I did another big traditional piece! Woo!

The meds I am on now give me a hand tremor, so sorry for the wonkey lines in a couple parts of this piece! I literally have crayola and roseart color pencils, sharpie pens, and the bottom of the line sketch paper lol Overall though, I like how my she came out <3

I hear Faber-Castell Polychromos are the best color pencils out there. I actually want to get a set myself. I used to swear by Prismacolors but their quality has declined over the years. If you're really serious about your traditional art kick it's worth taking a look at artist grade stuff including paper.

If it helps, I use Crayola pencils too XD
This looks really good! I like the shades in her hair and how the skirt layers came out ^_^ Nicely done!

Thank you! I'm trying to work on making the pencils blend at least a little and it's super hard :/ How do you do it?

The other thing is, I sometimes use the colorless prismacolor blender pencils. I found a website once that lets you buy prismas individually - and they do kind of work with the crayola brande

When I get some money together, I will have to look them up or an off brand. This is super exciting!!

This is where I get mine, individual ones go for like $1.29 - and if you click around you can buy colors individually too! I bought like 12 different pink pencils just on their own because the closest my Crayola ever gave me was raspberry and I kept running out

I usually color in layers. Like, do the base color really lightly, then go over some parts again with the same pencil and a little more pressure, then lightly shade a different darker pencil over it. Like I'll color something in yellow, then increase the pressure, then switch to a light orange and go over parts with that.

Does this make sense?

OMG I AM GONNA TRY THIS
I just color and stack colors. Didn't think to go lighter pressure to harder pressure *headdesk*

It's fine, no worries - it took me friggin forever to learn to do that myself, and I learned I did it by accident when a friend watching over my shoulder pointed it out XD So don't feel bad! I'm sure if you just play around with it you'll figure out something cool too you can share with me! ^_^
