This takes place about 500 years into the past
Dante was living in the outskirts of the Mushroom Kingdom, living off of the things he stole. He was known as a cunning thief, and he had been doing this since he was little. Not once was he ever captured. Every time he was caught, he escaped. There was a war in the Mushroom Kingdom going on between them and the Dark Lands (the ancestors of Bowser) so resources were low, which is why it was hard for Dante to find food without having to steal. But food isn't all that he stole, he would also steal things that would catch his eye. One of these items at the time was a silver handheld mirror
Dante was about 15 at this point, and that's when he met the princess.
She was a little older than him, and of course he was terrified of her. But she reassured him that she wouldn't hurt him. She gave him comfort, and Dante soon found himself smitten for her. The princess was well aware of this, so she promised something to Dante. She told him "meet with m
