A Brief History of MangaManga and Anime Week
Most people nowadays have a general idea of what Manga is, and most have seen an Anime, be it by choice, or because your kids are watching it on TV. But what exactly is manga and anime? Where did it come from? Who is it for? Manga and Anime seem to be ingraned in modern popular culture, but its history goes back thousands of years, all the way back to the 12th century. In this article I have tried to give you a brief overview of the rich history of this diverse genre.
Ancient beginnings
Maybe the oldest known forms of Japanese narrative illustrations are Kamishibai, or 'paper dramas'. The art-form developed in Buddhist temples, were the monks used emaki (narrative paper scrolls) to tell moral stories to the common people who couldn't read. The history of these emaki goes back even further: the earliest still existing example was painted in 735 AD.

Find your way around DA #1: Pose ReferencesComing up with interesting, accurate poses for your characters can be difficult. Either they all end up looking the same, or the poses just don't look right. Drawing from a reference is a great way to practice this. Luckily, there are lots of amazing resources available to help you out, both here on DeviantArt and one the big bad WWW. I've listed the ones I know here, so you don't have to do the digging.
- I've picked resources that focus on poses, not on anatomy. This means that the drawn pose references listed here are not necessarily anatomically correct. Though the two are definitely related, to me they're not necessarily the same thing. Your anatomy might be great, but a good pose can really bring your image to life.
- This journal focuses on humans, not animals. Animal references will be listed in the next journal.
A little guide to the list

Iduna Haya's resources MasterlistOver the years I've made a lot of resources, for various purposes.
I generally try to upload them to the account I think suits it best, and as a result, they are now spread out over 3 accounts, which is a bit annoying.
So I have made a Masterlist ^^ Here will keep links to my resource folders with some examples from my personal favorites.
Let me know if you end up using one of them, I really like seeing what people do with my resources <3

I'm in doubt whether to continue uploading resources to this account, or to move that part of my work to my adopt/commissions account. Any thoughts?
