Time never stops
It moves and rushes and crawls
Until one day you realize.
Then everything changes,
Suddenly that time gone by is just time gone.
Precious and intangible—like a glittering diamond in a shop window
Translucent, beautiful, but just beyond grasp,
Further away than possession
It escapes and leaves to time to catch
The breaths that mark the life the soul is only half living.
We realize our infinitesimalbility and dream better
Of living for more, but too soon the time starts again
And we don’t even notice we just continue on with this
This rush and this un-appreciation and this artlessness
And then we forget
