Databending Tutorial 1: Basics

Fittingly, I had to do this twice because deviantart did a glitch where everything I typed was bold and there was nothing I could do about it.

I originally was going to do one huge tutorial but I decided to split it up because otherwise it'd be too big. I already have all the images I need.

The reason that just saving the image in its original format from the text editor can cause such change is that it doesn't quite save the same. I cannot find my source for this, it's been too long, but I've read this is because the text editor adds in whitespace (linebreaks, tabs, spaces) where there were none in the original. So the entire file basically is corrupted. Including data that normally you shouldn't touch when databending, but I will get deeper into that in the next part.
