Charcoal Nightmares by IceandSnow Charcoal Nightmares by IceandSnow

AND NOW FOR SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT.

Well, here's some stuff from my drawing class that I thought I would share.

These are kinda "blind" abstract drawings. They all started out as drawings made with my eyes closed, and then I went back into them, added shading, etc.
It was my first assignment for my drawing class. The first one (top left) is the best one I did in class (frankly, the others aren't too great) and the other three were for homework.

All of these are HUGE, like 24 inches by 36 inches I think? Yeah, I'm totally not used to working on that scale, most of my art is like 6 inches by 8 inches xDDD

WOOO SUBCONCIOUS IMAGES I GUESS... YAYYY.
enjoy?

media: 100% charcoal on giant newsprint.

Well, I really admire your ability to blend and shadow with charcoal like that. I've tried. It's harder than it looks . You are a true artist.

I really like your technique, I think I'll have to try it sometime! I've been really into charcoal lately... I see a tree in the top left one and the top right one is my favorite. Good work, I'm sure you're doing very well in your class!

This is great, but how can you stand to use Charcoal, it always sends a horrible shockwave down my spine.

I'm not really sure how I managed to use it all last semester without dying from all the shockwaves-down-my-spine. It's dangerous stuff, yo.

These are really cool.

And from what I see, you could move the 4 around and get one huge design from it.

I think that'd be kind of cool to do, or look at. ^__^

But it is already cool the way it is. (:

the first one looks like trees
the second one looks like there is a butterfly on the right
The third one looks like youre standing on a dock looking over the water
And I dont know about the fourth one
Where do you get newsprint?
Cause I think someday I would like to do some large scale drawings

YESSS I TOTALLY KNOW WHAT YOURE TALKING ABOUT TOO.
I loved those books, but scared me so much when I was little. I just remember one about a girl that always had a ribbon around her neck and when someone took it off, her head fell off.
