SO YEAH
IN THE LAST ISSUE OF SCREAM QUEENS, MARCELINE'S ANXIETY MATRIX WENT UNSTABLE
AND SHE TURNED INTO A MASSIVE FUCKING DINOSAUR
AND PB TOOK IT UPON HERSELF TO BE A DOUCHEBAG UNTIL MARCIE CALMS THE FUCK DOWN
AND IN THE PROCESS SHE JUMPED ON HER HEAD AND SLICED HER THROAT
WHAT A BADASS
Okay, seriousness now. I enjoyed the last issue for Princess Bubblegum's LogicScienceUnsettlingBadassPrincess qualities which were all shown in this book. I think however that the fact PB has been overshadowing Marcie in Marcie's own goddamn miniseries is a sign that the writers can't work with Marceline without focusing on her past - her personality has been so neglected that it's unusable, and now Marceline is nothing more than an angsty plot-tool for Oooish history. What's interesting is that Princess Bubblegum is the OPPOSITE - she has perhaps the most interesting, deep and engaging personality on the show if we go by my analysis (tied somewhere with Ice King), however she has ABSOLUTELY NO BACKSTORY EXPLORATION.
The result? PB is flexible as a character and can be thrown into many situations. Marceline is rigid and can only be used on special occasions, namely by Rebecca Sugar on important plot episodes. As for Scream Queens? No chance - these comics aren't official canon and there was no chance for backstory.
So Meredith focused on Marceline's main personality trait, her most interesting at that - Marcie's inferiority complex.
And this became the main focus of the entire story... poor Marcie hasn't shown much else apart from nervousness. However PB has been showing several traits throughout, although up until this last issue they were largely out-of-character *cough*Guy*cough*
Yes, Marcysaur looks odd. I went with the purple colours rather than black because the black was suicide for this kind of art.
I… attempted to create a sense of depth. I think I failed.
Also, the proportions for Marcysaur are off - she should be bigger than that.
