Description
Try to decipher all the symbology and character links I've thrown into this drawing! I'll update the desc soon.
Zoom in for full resolution, otherwise it looks terrible.
Edit:
Okay, now I’m going to tell you what I was thinking when I made this since I put too much effort in to waste:
Goliad’s hair is brown because it is a rather neutral colour, not associated with light or darkness unlike gold or black, and it represens neutrality, a blank and unaligned pallette, of which she had before Jake messed her up.
She has freckles, these represent youth and innocence.
She has a clip in her hair, as well as a firm belt. These represent control. These are made of iron, which represents controlling with an “iron fist”.
While she tries to control her hair, it still has a few scraggly ends, representing the flaws in her ideology as well as Stormo’s interference.
She is watching Stormo with a concerned, slightly agitated expression on her face - this is to remind us of their rivalry and his dominance potential.
Goliad’s face is shadowed over the eyes, Stormo’s is not. This is to represent Goliad’s darkness. Stormo’s eyes are also brighter. However, they still have some shadow to them, because nothing is completely good.
Goliad is wearing a Demonic Wishing Eye, which as we know is very evil. However she is also wearing a shawl which covers her from the elements and which hides the “evil” eye - Goliad’s covert sinister potential. The demonic wishing eye has a small shine of light in it, because Goliad isn’t completely evil and there is the possibility for redemption, however unlikely.
Goliad’s clothing protecting her from the elements altogether, including the boots, shows how unaware she is of the struggles of the outside world.
Goliad and Stormo are both wearing items of clothing which are beige and white. These represent purity. On Goliad’s boots, you can see mud - Goliad is corrupted. On Stormo’s shawl, there is a fur thingy, which unlike Goliad’s warmth boots is there to represent wildness and wiseness.
Goliad and Stormo are both white because, well, Finn is white so Stormo is white and I wanted to keep them looking related. I don’t want any social justice bloggers on here telling me to colour them otherwise. However, Goliad is pale and Stormo is tanned, and this shows the difference between their relations with the outside - Stormo is tan because he instinctively knows what the outside world is like and what it needs. Basically he has a Worker’s Tan, because he works for the People.
Stormo is staring happily at the light. He is showing excitement, because Stormo’s personality is an adventurous one. Also, Stormo is appreciating the light, because Stormo is naturally righteous and loves light.
Stormo is wearing very little clothing, and this represents purity and devotion to heroism. Stormo is non-materialistic and lives to be a hero.
The blue shorts represent the Finn link in him. he’s his son after all.
Stormo’s hair is wild and golden. It’s golden because of Finn of course, but it’s wild because Stormo is a rugged individual who would live a simple yet reckless life, who would not try to control anything.
Stormo’s sword has a wooden handle, to represent the carpenter otherwise known as the working class, but it has a gold blade - gold is an element and is pure but soft. So once again, purity and gentleness.
At the end of the hilt is Princess Bubblegum’s crown gem. Stormo fought to protect the Candy Kingdom as well as its current government. Because the jewel also links to the Enchiridion, he is representing the Hero’s Code.
Goliad is clinging onto the surface of the cylindrical rooftop, trying to maintain power.
Stormo is comfortable, and his sword is firmly planted into the wall, meaning that he is there to stay to stop Goliad.
