I am glad that you are enjoying it! Even though I wanted to improve this skin further, it will remain as a beta. I regrettably don't have the time to update any of my work. Furthermore, I have updated to Windows 7 a while ago making it kinda useless for me to continue to do Win 7 style skins for XP. With that said, I hope that the beta is acceptable and that you will be able to enjoy it for a little while... Thanks for your kind words! I appreciate it! :)

yep, i know, i was just wondering that by changing the position of the search from the original would mean if it were fake or not. basically... ;]

Well, ViStart has completely been remade to accommodate the new Windows 7 Start Menu (search and 'Shut down' button) so that is why it is perfectly implemented...

Looking nice but I think you forgot to add separators :).. but here use these if you like: [link] they're very accurate guaranteed ;)

I tried and ViStart doesn't support it... In Windows 7, a separator occupies about 5 pixels causing the above item to move up by 1 pixels and the item beneath down by 2 pixels. But this does not occur in ViStart cause there is no image or space reserved for separators.

Nonetheless, I have inserted a separator between Videos and Recent Items and another between 'Connect To' and 'Control Panel'.

Although not perfect, it does look acceptable. I will upload a new screenshot reflecting this soon.

Thanks for the separator. I have one almost identical to yours...

I personally think there should be a separator somewhere, it doesn't matter what color, shade, or opacity. It just makes it look more authentic and usable instead just a row of text.

I agree with you... 2 separator lines have been added in the actual png Start Menu graphic - not perfectly but it still looks good.

Thanks for your valuable input :)

Might be a delay in that preview. I am working on an installer with check boxes and radio buttons since Aero Xtreme for ViGlance will have the following options:

Taskbar Position: Bottom or Top
Taskbar Size: Normal or Slim
Shutdown Options: Shut down or Log off

Should be really cool!

Oh I hope so. Cause it's never happened before in the previous versions I used of ViStart. It's a problem that seems to occur even before I install your theme. But we'll address it in email. I had already sent you screenshots, and info on the problem.

The orb has been updated in Aero Xtreme for ViSart. It now has the correct pressed state. Give it a try! You might like it... Unless of course you don't like Windows 7!

No, I just don't like how inflexible ViStart is now; you can't use it as seamlessly with ViGlance as you could with ViStart 6. It's do-able, but I prefer ViGlance's smooth fading animations to ViStart's jumpy - if accurate - lack of animation.

Once ViGlance Winter 2009-2010 Edition comes out, I'll be making a skin for it. By then, it should work very will with ViStart 2.0. I think that ViGlance is being redone from scratch as well...

:iconreyvinvinnex:

Sounds good. They should just wrap the whole package in together - ViStart and ViGlance in one program.
Reply
:iconianitainc:
IanITAInc Featured By Owner Nov 26, 2009
Some people prefer the Start Menu from WB and only want to use ViGlance. Others hate ViGlance and prefer the taskbar from WB that doesn't fade on mouse-out. So I guess that is why they are not together...

Let's just hope that Lee gets rid of the mouse-out fade thing for ViGlance. That would make it almost perfect - especially when used in conjunction with WB...

Exactly! And that is why I made this one... And I think that finally, this ViStart version might be worth using - especially with a good skin!
