I'll bypass the obvious troll bait and misinformation and go for the one thing some folks still seem to have a hard time understanding:
I do not have any real authority over the comics. I am not "head of a department." There is no department. I send in scripts to the editor. Sometimes other people do. There's no office or meeting or hierarchy - just a production team on an issue-by-issue basis.
I don't "have" two companies at my back. I'm not even an employee of either - I'm freelance. I could be replaced tomorrow without a moment's notice. Archie has been buying my scripts for an impressively long time because they like what I do and how I do it. If that changes, that's it - I'm gone. It's not even a case of being fired or laid off. They just wouldn't buy my scripts anymore.
If the editor wants me do something, I can try to debate the issue, but ultimately I have to do what he says. If SEGA were to tell us to drop the F.F. immediately, I'd hate it, but they'd be gone overnight. Regardless of whether or not I want to use the cut content, I've been told not to touch it, so I cannot. That's it. End of discussion.
I am a cog in the machine. A vocal cog, a happy cog, but a cog all the same.
