The Battle For My Soul
Barren, with an open heart I stand.
Thirsty as one can be for love.
Too many times lead down this empty path,
Hoping this is my battles end.
My heart aches, with every thought obscure,
Re-living that which lead me here with you.
My head spins as I retrace my steps.
My mind, numb, from many battles overcome.
At first glance, my shadow turns to run,
But heart stands firm, aware of that which lies ahead
My heart and mind battle for my soul,
As I awake, my hand in yours.
Sometimes you sense me running from my past,
To that old, tattered path that leads me to my nightmares.
Still you are gentle and eloquent.
Angel wings point me to your open arms again.
Your patience rewards me with a kiss from heaven.
And you always find me waiting there for you.
You take me in with arms wide open
Sheltering what little life is left in me
Your kiss urges to breathe, to live another day,
My worn-out heart is mended by its warmth.
As you breathe life in me, I look to thank you
