I am @Project-X3 I created a new account because I lost the password to my current email associated with this account, and it’s only a matter of time before I’m asked to verify through it. I may still give out badges while I still have access to this account, but don’t expect it to be active for much longer.

I’ve realized that my art journey has been less about improving my own art and more about envying other artists and doomscrolling all day sulking about not being where I want to be. It’s been killing me inside knowing that I need to put in the work and then not doing it. I’ve dealt with this since 2019, when first I picked up the pencil with serious intent to draw and improve. Yeah I feel like I’ve improved, but it’s nowhere near the level where I thought/wanted. I’ve been so obsessed with other things, particularly doomscrolling, that my brain is always fried and I don’t feel like putting in any conscious effort to make art gains. Complex things like anatomy and rendering just seem like too much effort and it takes way too long for me to draw anything. Overall, I just feel like I’ve wasted six years of my life in some mediocre limbo that I feel lost, having a drive to succeed but not putting in the work. I’m just going to step back from everything and try to find myself. This will be

“I’m X years old. Is it too late for me to learn how to draw?” While there is slight truth to this question, and the questioner is correct to have a gut feeling, the question is based off a severe misinterpretation of an observable trend. There’s usually someone younger than you who is more successful in their artistic endeavors or they improve faster than you. In other words, it’s insecurity mixed with subconscious envy/jealousy. No, it has nothing to do with the “difference in learning patterns as you age” or other genetic factors. It’s actually based off the stifling of our creativity. First-world education is absolutely atrocious with outdated learning objectives that exist to neuter your brain’s higher-level thinking, of which includes your creative pursuits. It is not a horrible byproduct of education; it’s completely by design. When John D.
