It's a shame that good die young. She was the meekest feline companion one could possibly ask for but she had to be put to sleep. I should at least be able to give her a proper funeral.
Another Brattle Theater entryI have been neglecting this page for over a year. I have been neglecting a lot of things really. One of the few things I didn't neglect this year was the Brattle Theater competition and here is the link for my entry back in July. Received the runner-up prize. Written, animated, directed and voice recorded in less than two weeks.
Brattle Theater Competition Entry!Check it out. Starring a Cloud Strife look alike as WAR and a Sephiroth look alike as DEATH. Did you think they can be funny?
The first teaser for Manga Wars Episode 2Well, good or bad, here is the first teaser.
This movie will be longer, darker and have more characters and body count than the first one, as all sequels are supposed to. As such, the amount of work still needed for this movie is daunting. While I wish to finish this by May 2009 for the Anime Boston convention, we will see how it goes.
I will be leaving on my long deserved vacation at the end of this week. Hopefully it will be an opportunity to recharge and recover from all the stresses from works, finances (ouch) and other tribulations of life.
Also, I made a preliminary version of the website for the Boston Action Film Festival. Clearly needs more work but it's a start. . .
Boston Action Film Festival RecapI actually found myself quite impressed with this event, much better than my expectations or the poster suggested. Granted none of the films would win a short film oscar, but most of them had impressive action choreography and some of them actually had good production values. A few of them even had interesting stories and scripts.
An extra point to ponder:
Jeff, who organized the festival, said one of his motivations for organizing this event was the upcoming establishment of the Plymouth Rock Studios AKA Holywood East. The official website of the Studio: http://www.plymouthrockstudios.com/
An old Boston Globe article: http://www.boston.com/news/local/articles/2008/01/24/plymouth_to_beckon_film_illustrators_artists/ If you would like to learn more, just google Plymouth Rock Studios.
Once established, it will fundamentally change the film making landscape in New England, he implied. And organizing this film festival was a part of his efforts to be ready for this change. He wanted to bri
Boston Action Film FestivalMy action-packed parody anime "Manga Wars" will be shown at the ("First Ever!") Boston Action Film Festival this coming Sunday. While I don't know what to expect, it looks like a fun event filled with locally made B-movies, not to mention an opportunity to meet other filmmakers in the area. Here is the link:

This will be my second opportunity to hold a little Q&A session. I had my first Q&A session about "Manga Wars" at the ConnectiCon on August. That event had about 15 people coming to my screening/panel. That number was not too bad for a panel held on Sunday morning, I suppose. It was a little intimidating but clearly interesting experience. I only wished I had more materials to present.
BTW, Manga Wars on youtube now has about 12000 hits. Not too bad I say. Also, check out the Boston Zine Fair http://www.papercutzinelibrary.or
Brattle Theater Trailer SmackdownThe Brattle Theater Trailer Smackdown has come and gone. Although my entry did not win the final prize, the event was still a blast. It was a celebration of the campy cinema mixed with our own homage to the said art form. I was happy to be a part of the event and would clearly like to participate again next year.

My own animated entry, done in just four (sleepless) days.

July ReflectionsI passed another birthday of mine. (Yes, I am a Cancerian) This time I would say I am reasonably happy with the way the first half of this year turned out. Can't stop the tide of time, but we can try to make each day count.

Brattle Theater Trailer Smackdown (July 17th at the Brattle Theater, Cambridge, Massachusetts. Featuring "fabulously horrible" fake-trailers made by the filmmakers around the Boston Area, including my own animated entry.)
A week with major releases! After over two and half months of hard work, Manga Wars! Episode 1 has been released. It's an action packed Starwars/Azumanga crossover fan anime that has been submitted to the official Starwars fanfilm contest. The movie is available from youtube now.
Also, the very first issue of Boston Comics Roundtable's antholgy series is in our hands. The first issue, 60 pages long, includes my own 8-page comic, and will be available for sale at the Museum of Comic and Cartoon Art Festival in New York City (June 7th-8th). Following the festival, you will be able to buy them at comic shops around the Boston area. Kudos to everyone involved with the editing and publishing of our first issue.
Overall, the end of May turns out to be a milestone for my efforts to live a creative life. I just hope this is a beginning for greater things to come.
Azumanga Wars! After a month of work, I present the first trailer for "Azumanga Wars." a Starwars fan/parody animation with an Anime protagonist.

I am shooting for May 27th deadline of the official Starwars Fan Film contest. I suppose I am half way there.

Some quick recognition tipsI remember it can be quite tough to gain recognition on DeviantArt when you first start out. It's a massive website with so many features and ways to interact! When I started out, I was lucky to have a friend of mine giving me a little shoutout in their journal, which gained me my first couple of watchers. I'll do the same in this journal for some new Deviants I found that have really cool galleries, and I thought of giving a couple of tips as well on gaining recognition:
~ TIPS ~
Loads of interaction! DeviantArt is considered a social media website as well as an art site, and offers many more tools for interaction, feedback, and commenting than Twitter/Instagram/Tumblr ever will! Use it wisely If you want to receive comments, and have people view your art, you have to put some effort in yourself as well. Comment on other people's artwork, +fav it, +watch those you really like, keep communicating. Try interacting with other new ar
Hello Friends New and Old!Hey gang! This entry's been a long time coming and I've got a lot of ground to cover, so let's just jump in!
First off, to whoever got me the core membership: THANK YOU!! Your kindness was a big factor in my decision to be more active on dA again. That was a wonderful present so much gratitude and hugs. Wow.
NEW FOLLOWERS (and curious onlookers!)
Welcome! Welcome! And thank you so much for your interest in my work. Regardless of what got you here, I really appreciate your time and energy. I've gotten a lot of questions about my work, views, and all sorts of other stuff. Since I've been away for a while, I'm gonna do an FAQ in a week or two to get you guys up to speed. I did want to give you folks a shout-out though since I know there's been an influx with some of my older work making the rounds again. I'm very grateful to have you here.
Now, to my longtime friends here: You're are probably wondering "Where have you been, K-Bo?" Wow. Where to start... Without getting into to
16 Examples of how NOT to Pitch a LoglineI joined a Twitter dealie where you pitch to agents over Twitter, and I swear I learned more in one day about pitching than I have reading any number of how-to-write books.
A logline is a one sentence pitch of your story. It can be used on Twitter, but it's also used in person as an elevator pitch. It's the distilled essence of stakes, story, and character. Some people find it frustrating and intimidating, but I find it easier to do a logline than a query.
I got a few bites from agents, so I was quite pleased. I gained a lot of sympathy for them around 3 in the afternoon, though. Every pitch starts looking the same, and the really, really stupid ones start standing out. Some suffer from bad metaphors, bland stakes, or simple incomprehensibility. I've got 16 examples right here for you, so if any of your loglines look like these, you may want to consider a rewrite. (Incidentally, don't post your own loglines for my perusal. I'm not going to sit here and tell a bunch of people they

Hyper-Surreal Fractal Chess Set - The GAMEThe 3D PRINTED
The Project I have been working on subconsciously for years, which I mentioned in my previous post is now finished.
--- The Hyper Surreal Fractalic Mystical Chess set - My Masterpieces ---
The full set is a play in 7 acts about humanity, the evolution and the quest for knowledge through enlightenment and superfluity until the day when mankind finally became the plague of the planet.
A chess set immensely more surreal than Max Ernsts, Marcel Duchamps and Dalís sets.
Chess was made to be played with pieces of pure fractal mathematics, I now know that!

YouTube stuff + Update stuffSo, things are little bit hectic right now, and YouTube has been giving me a bit of hassle lately. I seem to have been losing subscribers since my last stream on my main channel, with a very big loss on my last Animated Atrocities upload, which is worrying, especially because any theory that I've had towards the numbers doesn't fit all of the evidence. (If people were getting sick of me talking about Growing Around stuff, then I should have had a positive turnaround when I uploaded an Animated Atrocities video). Add to that that like every single video this year has been copyright claimed, and let's just say that things have been discouraging as of late.
Other than that, I'm trying to stay optimistic, although the hot summer is making that a little bit difficult. But, some stuff that's coming up I guess. Most importantly is my Animated Atrocity review - with the upcoming Rugrats reboot, it's time to tackle Angelica and Suzie Preschool Daze, that show there that lasted four episo
