This is the final version of a previous deviation, [link]
Originally when sent to me, the colours had a much higher contrast and everything was more vivid. I liked it a lot and would have considered it done if ~Cezann
hadn't told me it wasn't. A few weeks later, this version was sent to me. I meant to put it up sooner, but was delayed.Profile
Name: Sandra Hythrain
Sandra Hythrain, a young teen from the corrupted city of Aldbridge, grew up with a very traumatic life. She was born during the time when Aldbridge began to fall apart from within, as robbery and murder were growing rapidly. Born never knowing her father or his family at all, she lost most of her mother's family as an infant and finally all of it, ending with her mother, at nine years old. Though most kids in such a situation would give up, Sandra somehow persevered. For three years she survived with ease, relying on stealing to get whatever she needed to keep going. She was never caught during this, though, for she had a natural gift for hiding in the open. People just didn't notice her.
However, at twelve years old she was finally caught. She was jailed despite her age, as since the falling of technology the life span of people had dropped by more than half. Where once eighteen was considered the age of adulthood, today's society fell back on more medieval ideas, with this age shifting to the teens themselves. People were lucky to live to fourty.
In jail, however, she underwent the most terrible of atrocities. The captain of the guard, knowing of Sandra's family line and how her father's family had caused the city to become what it had, chose to take his anger and vengeance out on her.- This part has been removed from the deviation profile. If you would like to know this part, send me a note. I will NOT post it up freely, nor will I allow others to do so -
Beaten and broken both physically and emotionally, Sandra spent three months in that jail where the captain would routinely return to continue his "revenge." During this time, the trauma of all that had happened to her in her short life finally caught up with her. In the hopes of taking some sick pleasure away from the captain, Sandra's body took her voice away. It didn't work. Instead, Sandra had to hatch a plan to escape. Another month later, she finally got away.
Her time in jail saw a change in the city; people she had used to sell stolen goods to for money were now gone, replaced by people far more vile, who demanded so much more for so much less; failing to give them what these new buyers what they wanted resulting in them actually turning Sandra over to the guard, where she would undergo the same treatment as before before escaping.
The combination of her traumatic experiences in jail and from the treatment she got from others developed a fear of people, anthropophobia, though it would mostly be focused towards men. Despite the circumstances, the few women she interacted with now showed her far more kindness than any man did, though it was still quite little.
And so Sandra has lived this way for more years, not knowing the change in the city was due to the thieves' guild, Crux, making Aldbridge its base of operations. She has seen the inside of that same cell several times over the years, and has seen the sadistic smile of that captain nearly as many times. That is, until the day she chose to try and steal a ring from a certain someone.Personality
Sandra's personality is not really known due to many reasons. For starters, her life growing up was terrible. She never got the chance to blossom into who she should be. In addition, her fear of men and her going mute stunted much of her developing personality, forcing herself into mere bare minimums. Who she is and what she could become are things that can only be seen with time.
In short, Sandra is designed as a non-speaking character with a traumatic past who, thanks to her past, has no developed personality. All she has are both rational and irrational fears and a base instinct of need.
As an additional note, while technically I can post this on deviantART as I wish as this was a commission based work I paid for, I will note that I spoke with the artist anyway and got their permission to both post it on deviantART and to show it in various groups on DA. I'm putting this mostly as a notice for the groups out that there that would require knowing I have this permission.
