Libonectes is a elsmosaur known from Morocco (Turonian) and the USA (Cenomanian/Turonian). For a long time it was assumed that these fossils reprsent two different species but a new paper suggests that all finds belong to the species L. morgani.
This means not only that this genus was a contemporary of Spinosaurs but also that these animals swam across the young Atlantic ocean for several million years.

Interesting that you drew horizonta tail flukes on plesiosaurs in 2017 when only in 2020 a study claims their tails were like that

The problem with glasses Funny. Magnifying Glass  I didn't think plesiosaurs would ever have a fluke similar to modern whales. Because I remember learning that most of today's swimming reptiles swim in a fashion similar to fish and eels (not counting the sea turtle).

Mosasaurs, ichtyosaurs and sea crocodiles swam like fish, but it's very evident from their anatomy that plesiosaurs had a very different style of locomotion, relying on their large flippers instead of their tail like the former three.

Tard Idea Oh yeah! Just like the modern-day sea turtles who had flippers like a sea lion (as well as the turtles' Cretaceous ancestors)!

Verständlich, was meinst du wie ich mich fühlte als ich einen Simolestes Kiefer in Luxembourg zusammen gepuzzled habe, 1,5m lang.

Why the flat tail ?

Because we actually don't know much about the flukes of plesiosaurs.

The tail is different than the plesiosaurs I am used to seeing?
