Oh look, what a surprise! Another Yi! And this times with some close friends, Epidendrosaurus/Scansoriopteryx (left) and Edidexipteryx (middle).

Ok, I must addmit that I noticed on my last picture that the wrist of the animal is maybe to much folded, Jaime Headden :iconqilong: noticed it too and I had the feeling I can't leave the bandwagon with an wrong folded Yi (has someone maybe done a origami Yi yet?)
So here all three known species together sitting on a dripped Ginkgo branch. Note that I made the tail feathers of Epidendrosaurus similar in shape to some extinct Ginkgos, a idea I had back during the All Yesterdays contest but never went over the sketch level.

This picture is also available as a print.

P.s. if you want to know what I did 5 years ago have a look at this video where I went through some old stuff: www.facebook.com/7324269534815…

Wouldn't an adult Scansoriopteryx look like epidexipteryx and yi too, cuz the adult individuals know have a roughly epidexipteryx-like build.

That a matter of speculation

Very nice! If I may, a suggestion... When bats fly, and their wings cover over the sun, you see the fingers, and the sun shines through the membrane. I think something like this with a Yi Qi would be very surreal.

Indeed, that would be cool, the question is how thick the membrane was, if it was covered with small feathers or if the animal was really able to glide.  =)
Velociraptor1801's avatar
True... Or even if there was a membrane, or the finger was used in a similar way to aye ayes, to pull grubs out of bark... But that's just one of my theory's :3
