Equin Lied - Lilium

Like the original colour version of Pinkamena "Lucy" Pie, this was just about done entirely in watercolours, except for the clouds which are done by dry brushing acrylic paint. I quite like how the clouds turned out. I feel they turned out about as subtle as I could probably make them at my current ability. There was also a little more to the right on this piece but I cropped it off as I felt it didn't add anything to the whole image and was therefore unnecessary.

As I said, I'm really pleased with this image, perhaps mainly for the overall concept. Because of the way the MLP-fandom treats Pinkamena and Pinkie as two separate characters, I could not help but draw some parallels between that and the Lucy/Nyu dichotomy that's core to the Elfen Lied series. Not only that but I'm also fascinated with how some people are interestingly drawn to bring a show so bright, colourful and delightfully optimistic into such contrasting subject matter (i.e. the 'grimdark' section of the fandom). I actually hope to explore this aspect of the fandom more, and do so not only through further contribution to its art and/or fanfics.

By the way, I'd like to apologise to anyone who has trouble seeing this image right… I find it can be difficult to tell how my artwork looks on the screen, especially when it seems to look different with each computer I look at it from.
