Gunface Dragonmech by Hydrothrax Gunface Dragonmech by Hydrothrax
Found an old speedpaint from about a year ago in my WIPs folder, I liked the silhouette and lighting on the rough paint-doodle so I went ahead and finished it up between projects. :D

i love the way you shade your metal~ it looks simple but effective! So you have a primary light source, then you add a harsh shadow where there's a ridge that blocks your light?

I am getting a pretty heavy Zoids vibe from this one, which I like! A bit more mechanical and less organic than some of your other stuff.
I am loving the hoses running around the head and neck area, hydraulic? The gun on its head is nice as well, would you happen to have any more info on it?
Those three red dots above the mouth, are they nostrils?
The engines are pretty sweet, factory add-on perhaps haha! Judging from those nosecones I'd say those engines are designed to perform best at high airspeed in a low density atmosphere (as the actual inlet area is very small, but look to be shaped to take in the high pressure air running alone the surface of the cones). Interesting design, sure gets real hot though.
The rest of him however does not seem to have the same mach III airfoil looks going on, although getting a quadruped machine to be tuned for high speed aerodynamics I imagine is quite difficult. I do notice his claws, not his forward claws, but the hook on the backside (I forget what those are called). They look to be VERY well suited for swooping down upon an unsuspecting aircraft (or otherwise) and jabbing in those hooks, then quickly airbraking hard, dragging those hooks through whatever poor thing it has attacked.
Also, that tail looks like it can twist, roll, and bend for some fancy aerobatic maneuvering.

Thank you for sharing!

Oh man this one is a lot more arbitrary than my usual stuff, since it was born out of distractions in Viscom class about a year ago and I finished it up waaaay later. Was focusing more on the biomechaincal structure for this one. Definitely intended to be more mecha. Gun would perhaps be some form of plasma/rail gun, what if this guy eats metal and then can shoot hot metal slugs at people, or cold sabot-like rounds at ridiculous speeds. WHAM!

This guy's form is by no means supersonic-flight material so the engines are more of a visual than anything, he's more of a subsonic brute-force type of flier. The engines would have some sneaky secondary function - I would need to read up on it but energy density issue aside, what if this guy can use an induced ion flow to boost flight performance and allow for ridiculous maneuverability. Might be a fun idea if I were to play with some more realistic stuff, sounds like some of the higher-evolved aerosaurs would use weird tricks like that in conjunction with their morph-wing bodies to truly fly as if they're powered by voodoo magic, LOL!

Internal foundry and forging press? Would certainly be neat. Devours mouthful of scrap metal, some whooshing noises from inside (some sort of high temperature furnace), perhaps some flames too, then an loud KURPLANK from the press forging the projectile, and finally, the boom from the projectile being fired, or, if it is electric (rail gun, gauss, etc), more like a ZZKRIIIIIIIiiiinnnnnnG.

Induced ion flow? I'm afraid you've lost me, haha!

Are you complete with finals btw?

This is a super old comment I never responded to, sorry!

I was referring to ionocraft :D although it's pretty impractical in most cases haha!

Explosions would glance off and a designer would probably EMP-proof the processor and electrical systems. Probably kinetic weaponry would be something really effective. Sabot/railgun rounds, even if they don't disable the systems, you could pierce/jam all the moving components (mechanical musculature and such.) It's definately not meant to be some sort of impervious weapon, just a for-fun dragon :D
