We can definitely see the unity of Zues's followers, it almost looks like it's Hades's banishment into the Underworld.

it's kinda interesting if you see it in the historical context. apparently before ancient greece got back onto its feet again ancient greece's ancient greece(mycenaean greece)'s put more emphasis on chthonic/underworld deities, hades apparently didn't quite exist and poseidon was the most important not zeus, so SOMETHING happened during the dark ages and the olympians/celestial deities became the top dog, and besides poseidon other chthonic either god remakes or got pushed down and ignored or jumbled into a single being called hades. shows how the olympians tend to treat hades despite his importance in the cycle of the world.

Sounds like you've done some studying!
You are quite knowledgeable in this. I guess you could say I'm merely a fan of Greek mythos.

Marvelous work.

You have to feel sorry for Hades with the constant amount of demonisation despite that the other gods being as bad if not worse but Zeus and Poseidon in particular are true assholes.

I know, it's that hilarious moment when people realise that he was (Apart form his older sister Hestia) the NICEST god in the entire pantheon. As for Persephone, she wasn't raped nor abducted (Look up Ancient Greek marriages, then read the Homeric Hymn to Demeter), and she LOVED him just like he loved her. I could pull up plenty of sources to prove this too.

I heard Persephone was simply tricked into eating some of the seeds or fruit so now she has to spend a few months with Hades. Nowhere near as fucked as Poseidon taking Medusa to one of Athena's temple and raping her. Athena turned Medusa into the monster we know today. And Zeus. Oh dear Zeus. He's always horny 24/7.

Persephone wasn't tricked, she was an earth goddess and knew what she was doing when she ate those seeds. In fact there are hymns that mention that she preferred Hades over her mother, because all she was with Demeter was a maiden girl, not the goddess she actually was. (Virgil, Georgics 1. 36 ff C1st B.C.: “Tartarus hopes not for you [Caesar in the guise of Hades] as king, and may such monstrous lust of empire never seize you, though Greece is enchanted by the Elysian fields, and Proserpine [Persephone] reclaimed cares not to follow her mother.” –> Persephone prefers to stay with Hades than returning to her mother.)

Hades told her before he gave her the pomegranate was if she married him, she would be his equal in everything and would ensure that people gave her the reverence she deserved. (Homeric Hymn to Demeter: And Aidoneus, ruler over the dead, smiled grimly and obeyed the behest of Zeus the king. For he straightway urged wise Persephone, saying : ‘Go now, Persephoneia, to your dark-robed mother, go, and feel kindly in your heart towards me : be not so exceedingly cast down; for I shall be no unfitting husband for you among the deathless dods, that am own brother to father Zeus. And while you are here, you shall rule all that lives and moves and shall have the greatest rights among the deathless gods : those who defraud you and do not appease your power with offerings, reverently performing rites and paying fit gifts, shall be punished for evermore.’ When he said this, wise Persephoneia was filled with joy and hastily sprang up for gladness. But he on his part secretly gave her sweet pomegranate seed to eat, taking care for himself that she might not remain continually with grave, dark-robed Demeter.)

It is right after this scene that he slips her the pomegranate seeds. In this scene Hermes has come to bring Persephone back to grieving Demeter, and Hades doesn’t just say “here, Hermes I’ll return Zeus his property” but addresses and cajoles Persephone herself and offers her equal rulership over his domain something that would have been un-fucking-heard-of in a society where women were seen as chattel, as a way to simply produce sons.
But why did she eat the seeds? We know she didn’t do it because she was hungry. It says in the Illiad that gods do not require bread or wine as mankind does.
When she eats the seeds she is called “wise Persephone”, casting away doubt that it was done by mistake.
And she eats the seeds ONLY after Hades offers her timai, honor, and a chance to be something more than what she was in the world above: kore, a name that simply means ‘maiden’ or ‘girl’. If she hadn’t eaten the seeds, it would have compelled her to “remain continually with grave, dark-robed Demeter”, and she would have been a maiden without timai once more instead of the ruler over the dead that the Greeks feared and respected utterly.
Persephone herself says later that Zeus had given her to Hades with métis (wisdom), showing that she too was transformed by her time with Hades, and believed him to be a fitting husband. A good match for her. The alliteration of ‘dark-haired Hades and noble Persephone’ in how Hermes addressed them when he found them together would have also tipped off the ancient audience listening to the hymn that they were well matched. Because she was a goddess of vegetation who would know the consequences of eating the food of the Underworld, because she held a place of such importance in the pantheon, and because she only did it after Hades promised her equal rule as Queen.

Poseidon raping Medusa only occurs in a ROMAN story by Ovid. In the actual original Greek story she was the youngest daughter of Phorkys and Keto, two monsters, she had two older sisters named Euryale and Sthenno, who also had the power to turn people to stone, but they were immortal. Greek Mythology portrays her as always being a monster and engaging in CONSENSUAL intercourse with Poseidon. (Hesiod, Theogony 270 ff Greek epic C8th or C7th B.C.: "Poseidon, he of the dark hair, lay with one of these Medusa, one of the Gorgons, in a soft meadow and among spring flowers.") Sure as hell doesn't sound like being raped in Athena's temple.

And yeah, Zeus was horny 24/7, I have nothing to say about that.
