Hvalla

It came in a wave, roiling inklike through forests, over streams, between mountains; a shadow spilling into the land from the South.

With it came whispers on still air, filling all who heard them with dread. It was from the darkness that the creatures flooded, forms obscured in a black fog, revealing only fangs and claws, followed by the overwhelming stench of death. Near impossible to kill, they overran the world.

Towns and hamlets fell without warning. Great cities were swarmed and overwhelmed before they had the chance to call for help. When the darkness receded and the sun blinked back to life the next day, countless warg holds had been lost.

Three cities have survived the onslaught: Iringard, bastion of the Icewarg; Wargrun, stronghold of the Stonewarg; and Ljosa, sanctuary of the Woodwarg.

The race you choose will each have a different task as they attempt to rise from the ashes of what has become known as the Cataclysm, rebuild what has been destroyed, retake what was lost, and uncover what it was that caused the destruction of the world.

Winter, 848A

Winter’s hold tightens over Hvalla, its pale grip settling deep into earth and stone. The days draw short, thin light slipping across snowbound ground before vanishing behind low, iron clouds. Frost creeps along timber and rune-carved thresholds, and the wind cuts down from the peaks with a sharp, relentless bite. Rivers slow beneath skin-thick ice, and the world seems to quiet, listening beneath the hush of falling snow. The people of Hvalla know this season well, keeping close to hearth and hall, tending stores and mending gear, bracing for the long stretch of cold when endurance is its own kind of strength.
