Painting a car digitally II by husseindesign Painting a car digitally II by husseindesign
This is a mini walk through some details that were not mentioned in the main tutorial (you can see it as my featured deviation).
As you see it's just a part of the body that is explained on in this tutorial, but everything described here can be as good excuted on the whole car.
You will need to read both tutorials to have a good overview.
Hope it helps :)

Hi, i have a suggestion: Why didn't u use the pen tool to make the selections instead of poligonal lasso? with pen tool you can easily move lines and get a better result i think...
husseindesign Featured By Owner Feb 25, 2008
This tutorial is 3 years old. at that time I couldn't use the pen tool because i didn't know how it worked:)
check out the new tutorial in my gallery:)

do you draw these sketches? or do you get them from some source? This is a very very nice tut. I shall try it out
husseindesign Featured By Owner Jan 1, 2006
I draw them. I only render my own work:)

i'm new to make car designs. but there is a point takes my attention. why don't u use paths to make a selection?
husseindesign Featured By Owner Dec 16, 2005
When I wrpte tis tutorial I didn't know how to use the pen tool. Now I do :)
Dyer-Consequences Featured By Owner Feb 28, 2006
Are you going to write a short tutorial on the pen tool? I've looked for one but have never found one, do you of any?
husseindesign Featured By Owner Feb 28, 2006
I remember that :deviantkocho: has done one a while ago.
husseindesign Featured By Owner Feb 28, 2006

This looks like it might come in handy
brunetziku Featured By Owner Aug 22, 2005
thank u so much.. :) it worked..

I was wondering.. .. yeah it was weird..
now i see the difference.. all the lines stay on the same layer.. , when I use to do the lines.. each on of them would be on a separate layer..

thank u.. ! it worked :) ! I feel released.. hehe cuz I couldn`t do that..
I use to make body gaps with lasso tool , it was kinda hard when u would have to to the round lines..

thank u Hussein
u rock :)
brunetziku Featured By Owner Aug 11, 2005
hey hussein , u`re missing something here , (the last 2 pictures) , u say to pick the line tool to make body gaps to look real ,
u say to duplicate the line layer ,
if u make a new layer and then u start to use line tool (the layer dissapears) and u can`t duplicate the layer.....

husseindesign Featured By Owner Aug 12, 2005
Disappears? that's odd!
Maybe you sould change the line tool options. When you pick the Line Tool you'll see at the upper left corner of your screen three squares displyed. The default option is the first one, for this technique you should click the third one.
This should work. Let me know if it doesn't
rgm501 Featured By Owner Jul 9, 2005
thanks man, awesome tutorals! really helpful
dtownley1 Featured By Owner Jun 26, 2005
interesting work. You may have changed your techniques since this, but I'd use the pen tool instead of the polygonal lasoo. You can save and edit and of the selections that way, and they are much more accurate as well.

Interesting m8!! it gives me some sample idea for me to use soon, i am trying to make a piece of my own drawing stuff, so thanks for the tutorials!! very good for sharing
t0RnApARt Featured By Owner Jan 6, 2005
Nice, but it might be a tad more helpful if you painted the rest of the image (to show us what the final piece looks like) to feel if everyone's doing it right. Good work though. :)
husseindesign Featured By Owner Jan 6, 2005
Thanx.. no need to paint the whole car in the tutorial.. you can take a look at any of my car renderings to se if you're doing right or simply follow the other tutorial which shows a rendering of a whole car :)
t0RnApARt Featured By Owner Jan 6, 2005
Yeah, I know, I wasn't putting you down. :)

I just meant if you painted the whole of the picture you were working off (the front section of the car) we woulc have got more of a feel of how it goes. :)
husseindesign Featured By Owner Jan 6, 2005
I've already rendered this sketch some time ago.. you can see it here [link] .. unfortunately it was redered differently concerning light sorces and colors so it may not be a really good reference image:)
