DON’T BE SO HARD ON YOURSELF. I can bring good even out of your mistakes. Your finite mind tends to look backward, longing to undo decisions you have come to regret. This is a waste of time and energy, leading only to frustration. Instead of floundering in the past, release your mistakes to Me. Look to Me in trust, anticipating that My infinite creativity can weave both good choices and bad into a lovely design.   Because you are human, you will continue to make mistakes. Thinking that you should live an error-free life is symptomatic of pride. Your failures can be a source of blessing, humbling you and giving you empathy for other people in their weaknesses. Best of all, failure highlights your dependence on Me. I am able to bring beauty out of the morass of your mistakes. Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which He will accomplish for you today…. The LORD will fight for you. EXODUS 14:13-14   Who can imagine the terror that gripped the families of Israel in Exodus 14? The joy of their emancipation was overwhelmed by sudden crisis. Before them was the Red Sea; behind them was the flash of Pharaoh’s swords. With no way out, they seemed to be facing annihilation. Yet the Lord said, “Don’t be afraid. See what I will do. Stand still and watch while I fight for you.” As Moses raised his rod over the water, the winds of heaven blew, and the sea parted before them.   God can make a way where there seems to be no way. Isaiah 43:19 (KJV) says, “I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.” The apostle Paul promised that God will not allow us to be tempted beyond our ability but will make a way of escape (1 Corinthians 10:13).   If you’re facing a challenging problem, don’t be afraid. Occupy till I come. LUKE 19:13, KJV   On May 23, 1940, Vice Admiral Bertram Ramsey rubbed his eyes in the caves beneath Dover Castle overlooking the English Channel and then jotted a quick note to his wife: "No beds for any of us last night," he wrote, "and probably not for many nights. I'm so sleepy I can hardly keep my eyes open." But he did keep his eyes open as he presided over Operation Dynamo, which rescued the British Expeditionary Force at Dunkirk. In what Winston Churchill later called "a miracle of deliverance," Operation Dynamo successfully evacuated a third of a million troops who were trapped in France by Hitler's forces.   Everyone needs time to rest and relax. But the devil has millions of people trapped. The church of Jesus Christ is mounting the greatest evacuation effort in history, seeking and saving those who are lost. We need to remain vigilant so that our focus isn't diverted by "breaking news" about the latest movie, electronic gadget, or political debate. Let's

DO NOT LONG for the absence of problems in your life. That is an unrealistic goal, since in this world you will have trouble. You have an eternity of problem-free living reserved for you in heaven. Rejoice in that inheritance, which no one can take away from you, but do not seek your heaven on earth.   Begin each day anticipating problems, asking Me to equip you for whatever difficulties you will encounter. The best equipping is My living Presence, My hand that never lets go of yours. Discuss everything with Me. Take a lighthearted view of trouble, seeing it as a challenge that you and I together can handle. IF YOU LEARN TO TRUST ME - really trust Me - with your whole being, then nothing can separate you from My Peace. Everything you endure can be put to good use by allowing it to train you in trusting Me. This is how you foil the works of evil, growing in grace through the very adversity that was meant to harm you. Joseph was a prime example of this divine reversal, declaring to his brothers: “You meant evil against me, but God meant it for good.” Do not fear what this day, or any day, may bring your way. Concentrate on trusting Me and on doing what needs to be done. Relax in My sovereignty, remembering that I go before you, as well as with you, into each day. Taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the man who trusts in Him! PSALM 34:8   In the Old Testament, the word for blessed or happy comes from a verb that means “to go straight; to advance.” It was originally used to refer to leading others straight ahead or in the right path, then to setting things right, and then to being right oneself - in other words, it referred to being happy, blessed, or in the best place.   There is lots of advice in the world about how to be happy or how to live a happy life. One popular lifestyle guru talks about “living your best life.” But none of this advice squares with how the Bible describes true happiness or blessedness. Thirteen times in Scripture, the phrase “Blessed is the man who…” is used, and few of the conditions for happiness would be recommended by the world: meditating on God’s Word, having a pure spirit, trusting in God, learning God’s precepts, fearing God, listening to God, enduring temptation. DO NOT SEARCH FOR SECURITY in the world you inhabit. You tend to make mental checklists of things you need to do in order to gain control of your life. If only you could check everything off your list, you could relax and be at peace. But the more you work to accomplish that goal, the more things crop up on your list. The harder you try, the more frustrated you become.   There is a better way to find security in this life. Instead of scrutinizing your checklist, focus your attention on My Presence with you. This continual contact with Me will keep you in My Peace. Moreover, I will help you sort out what is important and what is not, what needs to be done now and what does not. This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven. ACTS 1:11   Since we can’t even see one minute into the future, human beings are poor fortune-tellers. Thomas Watson, chairman of IBM, said in 1943 that he foresaw no world market for computers. Popular Mechanics ran an article in 1949, predicting that one day computers would weigh no more than 1.5 tons. Ken Olsen, president of Digital Equipment Corporation, declared in 1977, “There is no reason anyone would want a computer in their home.” And even Bill Gates is reported to have said in 1981, “640K memory ought to be enough for anybody.”   Humans may not know about the future, but God, who is omniscient, eternal, and truthful, has given us an accurate set of predictions about days to come. Biblical prophecies contain no inaccuracies or errors in judgment.   The greatest prophecy of all has to do with the glorious return of Jesus Christ to the earth. Just after Jesus

By faith Moses, when he was born, was hidden three months by his parents, because they saw he was a beautiful child; and they were not afraid of the king’s command. HEBREWS 11:23   You may never have heard her name, but Moses’ mother was one of the greatest mothers of all time. Jochebed was a woman of courage.   When Moses was born, Pharaoh had decreed that all Hebrew baby boys would be killed. Willing to risk the wrath of the king, Jochebed made a watertight basket and placed Moses in the river at a time when the Egyptian princess would be at the banks. With her daughter watching from a distance, Jochebed trusted that the baby’s cries would warm the heart of the princess in time to save her son.   By placing her precious infant in the Nile River, Jochebed showed great courage and faith. She risked much to save her son so she could raise him to honor God. She became the palace nurse and reared her own son to fear God in spite of the Egyptian godlessness.   Christian parenting takes

COME TO ME for all that you need. Come into My Presence with thanksgiving, for thankfulness opens the door to My treasures. When you are thankful, you affirm the central truth that I am Good. I am Light, in whom there is no darkness at all. The assurance that I am entirely Good meets your basic need for security. Your life is not subject to the whims of a sin-stained deity.   Relax in the knowledge that the One who controls your life is totally trustworthy. Come to Me with confident expectation.
