I got some watercolour pencils to play with. On the left is the initial drawing, and on the right is the same drawing after brushing it with water. I used one of those brushes with water in the handle, but for detailed spots it was a lot easier to use a small normal brush dipped with water, so I had more control over how much water would end up on the paper. The pencils are quite a lot of fun to use, and a great way to get some experience with watercolour without having to actually buy and make a big mess with real watercolour paint. It's so cool to work with, and quite a change from acrylic or digital painting which are both much more forgiving to mistakes.
