Hi Humble, I found you thru a Like you gave on one of my positive comments on the latest DA Eclipse log. I just wanted to say thank you. As I browsed your gallery, I decided to add you to watch too. I saw that you were an admin for DA. I'm Vietnamese-American myself, so seeing you cook Viet food is quite cool. Have a wonderful day and keep up the great work you do for DeviantArt. It truly is my favorite site on the internet and when I say that, I'm not exaggerating. I only use DeviantArt, Twitter and YouTube as social media and consider DeviantArt my main because it suits my interests the most, the community here is filled with nice people w/ creative projects going on, and it really is feature-filled. Bye.

Hi there, TunaVoid!

Thanks for the kind message :) Yay for Vietnamese Americans! What are some of your fave Viet foods? My fave is probs canh chua, ca kho, and I also love banh nam and banh bot loc.

So glad to hear you're enjoying the site and overall community. Don't be a stranger! :)

You listed some really good ones. I'm a big fan of Ca Kho too.
Mostly if it's the Catfish one. My dad passed away but his favorite was Pho noodles.
The beef kind, so I've adopted that taste too haha. I really like Banh Xeo and Bun Cha Gio
when it comes to foods that go along with the fish sauce.

I can speak Vietnamese pretty well. Most of the older Viet people are usually impressed.
It probably came from being an only child and talking a lot with my parents outside of school.
I wouldn't be able to write it or fully read it on my own though. And terms used in newspapers
are usually more advanced so I wouldn't say that fluent. Just enough to talk with family.

Thanks for taking the time to talk to me for a bit. Feel free to message me, anytime. :)

Yes! Ca kho with catfish is a recipe that I can confidently say I've nailed :) I'm so sorry to hear about your dad. I lost my only brother 6 years ago, so I share in your pain. I hope you continue to keep his memory and spirit alive! One of the ways I like to remember my brother is actually through Vietnamese food – ca kho was our shared, fave dish, so any time I make it, I think of him

Banh xeo is my partner's fave Viet dish! I'm hoping to try and make it some time soon. My only holdup is the batter makes so much, so I need to be strategic about when I cook it and make sure I have lots of friends to come over and eat lol :D

I wish my Vietnamese speaking skills were better! I understand it fairly well, and I can read/write here and there, but my speaking skills have really fallen (especially after moving from my hometown which has a high demographic of Viet speakers!) Love that you've held on to the language! It's def impressive and something to be proud of :) Gio qua!
