Description
(How many of you guys have seen the new Season 3 of Young Justice? Because so far, it's freaking incredible!! I'd forgotten just how much I loved this show, SO glad they are bringing it back and they are bringing it back with a MASSIVE bang! So of course it's time to start up my army of OCs once again for a new fandom XD And funny enough I actually made this girl here as a Teen Titans OC but never ended up finishing her. I came across her again awhile back and thought she would be a good starting OC for the Young Justice universe. Probably still need to work on recreating the Young Justice art style, but hey, I can practice by drawing lots of new pics right? ;3 )
Alias: Rune
Real Name: Indira (Not even gonna try and come up with a last name XD)
Alignment:
Age: 17-"ish"
Height: 5’ 8”
Weight: 126
------------------------
Backstory
Indira comes from an ancient race of people known as the Runics who lived in the mystical land of Vlir, or The Vale in english terms, a secret plane of existence between reality where fantasy and mythological creatures resided and found sanctuary from the regular world. And the Runics were a people who practiced the way of collecting and harnassing the power of ancient Runic symbols for the betterment and the protection of this realm. As such, most of the Runics used their powers by helping those in need or by seeking positions within the household of the royal family to work as servants and protectors to the crown. But eventually, not all Runics favored the idea of using their powers to do nothing more than become lowly servants. Eventually many of them sought to use their powers as a way to overthrow the throne and ultimately take over the land. In order to accomplish this goal they took to twisting the original power of their Runic symbols into something darker and more sinister in purpose, creating a new malevolent form of Runic symbols now named Dark Runes and becoming known as the Corrupted. As such, war broke out across all of Vlir. Many years eventually passed, but the warfare within Vlir still continued as strong as ever. Those impowered by the Dark Runes were significantly stronger than those who used the original Runic symbols, but even so their newfound powers were a twisted and crud amalgamation of the original symbols so it was harder to control and at times rather unstable. And although the Runics were currently successful at defending against the Corrupted after all these years, they couldn't deny that the power of the Dark Runes was growing ever stronger each time they fought. It seemed like only a matter of time until their enemies finally broke through their line of defense. During one of these particular battles the fight ended up reaching all the way to the royal castle, where Indira was serving as a handmaiden to the royal family. Although young and still somewhat inexperienced in the full range of her powers, she battled hard and did everything she could to protect the royal family against the invaders. In ancient texts and books on mythological history, it becomes rather unclear what the outcome of the war happened to be. But personally for Indira, she didn't exactly "survive" the battle. However, she didn't exactly perish either. One fo the Runic's most valuable symbols was the Heart Rune that they wear upon their chest. This symbol alone kept them from ever fully succumbing to death. If their physical body ever received enough damage that would normally kill them, they would instead release the form on their physical body and their essence would retreat into a small rune stone. In this state, the power of the Heart Rune could work on repairing their physical body and once healed the stone would release their essence and put them back into their physical bodies. However, Indira's case was different. At some point during the battle once she was forced into the rune stone to heal, someone placed a seal upon her stone that could only be broken from outside the stone, leaving Indira trapped inside and ultimately unaware of her predicament.
This event occured 500 years ago. (Guesstimating Medieval-ish period here)
-Jump to Present Day- (Or "Present Day" being within the timeline of Season 1 for Young Justice)
Indira's rune exchanged many hands and traveled many places since her imprisonment. Eventually the stone made it's way to the Metropolis Museum where it was put on display as an artifact of mysterious origin. But those with a more magical background recognized the stone as something more intriguing as a mere artifact. However, most of them mistook the stone as something more sinister in nature as most sealed runes generally contained creatures of destruction or some kind of dark force that required being locked away. As such, Indira's rune received more unfavorable attention from those with less than good intentions. One of which being the deadly sorceress Morgaine le Fey. (Because Morgaine le Fey was a really cool character in the Justice League series and I kinda wish she was in Young Justice but since she isn't she's in my version now X3) It wasn't long before the young team of heroes arrived and the usual battle broke out as they tried to retrieve the artifact from the sorceress. However, in the middle of the battle she instead released the seal on the stone and expected some destructive creature to emerge that she could then control and use against the heroes. Instead Indira was released, dazed and very very VERY confused at the current situation going on around her. But after taking in the faces around her, it didn't take long to recognize the person that had realized her from her prison... and to then immediately attack her with everything bit of strength she had. Morgaine le Fey wasn't exactly a favorably person in The Vale and Indira recognized the "Witch" immediately. With the help of the heroes behind her they were able to drive Morgaine le Fey from the museum, although it did take a little time to calm Indira down as she was still very confused by these new superpowered people around her and it didn't help that she didn't speak English either. So after Miss Martian established a telepathic link with Indira so they could all understand her language, she was able to finally tell them who she was and what exactly she had been through. After a long conversation, Indira was able to come to terms with the reality of her situation. Trying her best to make the best of the situation she decided that the best way to thank these heroes, or Champions as she refers to them, would be to offer her services by aiding them in their heroic ventures. Although a little unsure of this, the heroes weren't entirely sure what else to do for her so having her stay with them seemed like the only option for now. So for now Indira is serving by her Champions' side during their heroic quests, all the while still trying her best to acclimate to this strange new world she's found herself in and in her spare time try to find out what became of her own world.

Power/Skills
Enhanced Empathy: While most of the abilities that the Runics have are different for each individual due to which symbols they choose to study, sensing pain and sorrow in those around them is something that all Runics share. Even the Corrupted still have this ability. But instead of using it to assist others like the Runics do, the Corrupted use the pain and misery to target in on their opponents to manipulate and kill them.
Energy Projectiles/Barriers: By creating tangible energy, Indira can either send out shots of energy as an attack or instead create a small shield to protect herself or a domed barrier in order to protect others with her.
Healing Light: Depending on the severity of one's injuries Indira can send out a healing light over one's body to either instantly heal smaller wounds or to try and heal over time on more severe injuries. This ability requires a lot of concentration on Indira's part so if she's in a more calm environment where she can focus on healing, her light can work a lot faster than it would while trying to heal in the midst of battle.
Hovering/Flight: This is a relatively new rune symbol that she's accquired so trying to fly is still something she's getting used to. Hovering a few feet above the ground is pretty easy for her, but trying to actually soar through the air or do any sort of aerial moves is still rather tricky for her. But practice makes perfect.
Indira can always add new abilties if she chooses to study up on more symbols, but due to finding herself in the present day it's a lot harder trying to find any texts or scrolls relating to the Runic's symbols in order for her to study. But she refuses to give up on her search.
She also has a couple other abilities... but she doesn't mention that.
------------------------
Weaknesses
Although Indira has studied extensively on the symbols that she has, she is still very young in age and in experience in her powers. And now that she no longer has any of the elder Runics to turn to for guidance, it has become a bit of a difficult journey in trying to master her abilities. So anyone older or more experienced in the mystic arts could easily overcome anything she tries to throw at them. She does have a pretty good handle on her powers, but that can also be considered a problem for her as she heavily relies on her powers in battle and doesn't really know any sort of hand to hand combat moves. If she somehow is unable to use her powers, then she instantly becomes incredibly vulnerable.
------------------------
Personality
Indira has a very sweet nature and due to her nature of servitude she is always trying to accommodate her friends and do everything in her power to make them happy. Though this can sometimes come off as annoying to the young heroes as they constantly try to remind her that she's their friend, not their maid. Even so, doing things like cooking and cleaning are things she genuinely enjoys. However, after having been thrown into this new world of heroes and fighting alongside them she finds battling to be rather exciting and it makes her feel like some of the heroic warriors they had in Vlir. And while she might generally be kind and sweet in nature on normal circumstances, when in a fight she becomes very serious and has a hardened determination to come out victorious. Though sometimes in this world of so many different super powered beings, in can be difficult for her to distinguish for certain those that are considered "villains" if they're not outwardly acting menacingly towards her and she can be a bit naive in those that she chooses to trust.

Likes: Drinking hot tea, Cooking, Reading, White roses, Horseback riding, Hero missions and her hero codename
Dislikes: Sensing sorrow and pain in her friends, Black magic, Thunderstorms, Soda, Having to keep secrets, Technology (It's not that she really dislikes tech, she just finds it incredibly confusing and chooses not to fiddle with any of it)
( I would really like to develop this character more and draw even more pictures of her, so if you guys have any questions or would like to RP with her then by all means do! 8D )
