Passive Aggressive Priests by HugaDuck Passive Aggressive Priests by HugaDuck
Technically, Athel isn't a priest yet, he's a deacon...
But I've never formally introduced him on dA, so it doesn't matter.
Neither him, nor Fr. David actually....

Actually, I have currently 33 religiously professed characters that have been named and shown up somewhere in some way, (mostly short stories that I don't post here because no one will read them) and I'm pretty sure I've only introduced Fr. McCarthy, Fr. Jerry, Fr. Andrea, and the 14 monks here on dA......
So uh... meet David and Athel. They're both dorks..

This is just me ranting again.

Nothing new.

Except you know... characters you've never seen before...

I have a lot of those. Around 96 and counting actually. C:

I totally agree with your OCs character rants. I wish I can know more about your characters. Lately I've been interested in Christian fiction that portrays Catholic clergy people but have only found one on here which is Chrissyissypoo19 's "Father Elijah"and now I've encountered drawings of your OCs. I've also been inspired to write a story revolving around a Catholic nun, Sister Elena, who performs exorcism as a demon hunter.

It's true people notice insults for other religions and races but they don't notice how others offend Christians. I notice a lot of people point out Catholicism for having pedophile priests and the Crusades (which is true and I don't agree with it) but don't look at how other countries and Empires in the past and present persecute Christians. What I also find offensive as a Catholic is costume stores display sexy nun outfits and priest costumes with an inflatable private part and yet I don't hear anyone say, "OMG this is offensive to Catholics!"

As for things like "pedophile priests," you're going to find creeps working their way into EVERY establishment, but to label an entire group based on the poor actions of the few is ridiculous. And with the Crusades, no one understands them, what they were fighting for and how they were instructed to do so. They look at the abuses that happened, which were not condoned or ordered by the Church, and say that that was the entire Crusades, which it was not.

It's not that people don't notice, it's that in our current societal movements, the beliefs and lifestyles of Catholics are radically against it. I mean, come on. The idea of a man or a woman controlling their emotional desires is absurd in our society of instant gratification!  Celibacy is taboo, which explains a lot of the mockery of religiously vowed. A lot of it also comes from the de-Christainization of society. If you weren't raised in a Christian setting, there's a good chance you know nothing about it, so you get everything you know from the media, which is increasingly Anti-Christianity and Anti-Religion in general. I mean, hell, even Anti-Semitism is back on the rise.

And I'm going to pm you about the exorcist thing.

I hope there wasn't a misunderstanding with my comment but I wasn't trying to label all Catholic priest as pedophiles I was only stating what other people claim about Catholic priests. You make a point there's always pedophiles and creeps in every religion and sect which I should have stated that in my comment. However, I was also acknowledging that there have been actual cases of Catholic priests and clergymen who have sexually abused kids. I remember 5 yrs ago  that there was a documentary on PBS about a sex scandal of Catholic clergymen concerning Eskimo children in a remote village in Alaska that happen in the 1960's:

www.newsweek.com/sex-abuse-ala…

www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontli…

I will admit some cases of sexual abuse in the Church maybe true while others are lies just to make some money off the Church. Years ago in my grandmother's parish in Douglas,AZ there was a kid who accused a priest at the parish that he sexually abused him so they had to transfer the priest to another parish in Yuma,AZ and when the kid grew up he confessed that he lied all about the incident.

Thanks for the clarification about the Crusades. From what I've seen in the media and books about how the Crusades was told it made it seem like it was The Church's doing by trying to convert non-Christians to Christianity and that it had its own political agenda or maybe I was confusing it with the Inquisition  Correct me if I'm wrong again

That's true our society is increasing in secularism and wanting to do away with Christianity. Every time I checkout the DA forums in the Religion and Politics section I have seen nothing but people bashing Christianity. In general our society praises sex and if one doesn't have sex then they are looked down on that there's this pressure for them to have sex.Why can't they see that sex isn't everything and that others want to either save it for marriage or that they want to live a devoted life style to God? That's why Earth is where Satan rules.

Sweet! I will read your note. I apologize if I reply late to your note but it takes me longer to reply to notes than to comments depending how long it is ^^;

Well, we cleared up the misunderstanding on that already, so no comment there. <XD

The Crusades were a response to Islamic aggression and persecution of Christians in Christian ruled lands. It was a move by the Church to protect Her people and the lands they already occupied. Like I said, there were abuses that happened, but they were not ordered by the Church. : P
The (Spanish) Inquisition is the political agenda mess. King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella were freaked out that Jews and Muslims were plotting to overthrow them, so they put together their own little inquisition. The (Papal) Inquisition was much different, but I've only done light research into that matter. 8I

Ugh, I stay away from forums. I have an extremely fiery personality and I already have near conniptions looking at youtube comments. I'd lay awake in bed for weeks if I went to a forum. <XD

Oh, you mean like the advertisements of The Real O'Neals are pasted everywhere, a show that tells the fictionalized adolescent biography of a anti-Catholic homosexual who makes a living bashing the Church and how he corrects his overly Catholic family in their backward ways. But the same network goes out of their way to make their show, Quantico as appealing to Muslims as possible by suggesting Jews are sneaky terrorists who are just better at hiding their involvement in terrorists attack by making it look like Muslims did it?

I'd heard of The Real O'Neals before, and that made me sick enough, but I've NEVER heard of Quantico. Before this year, I would have been shocked to know such show existed, but I'm starting to not be surprised by anything anymore. That makes my stomach churn, especially as Israel is facing real threats that half the world would like to ignore, and the other half would just as soon see the country and her people wiped off the face of this earth.

The unfortunate thing is that the people who make shows like these never portray who they're attacking accurately, or make them seem like the "standard." Then people, who have no knowledge or access to it take all their given (media portrayals) to be the norm, creating even worse stigmas and misunderstandings.

The Jewish community doesn't seem alarmed by it, but all the "Jerry Seinfelds" out the seem tickled pink that at least ABC is showing The Goldbergs, which portrays Jews as really cool and with it back in the 80's. That's all that matters to most in the Jewish community, sadly 😩
