I wanted to use my 9B graphite again. o-o

Quite literally the reason for this picture.
So here's McCarthy.... standing in some snow... probably getting all sentimental about something or such... contemplating his life... Or you know.... he could just be thinking, "Why the hell am I wearing this cloak in these below freezing temperatures with a wind chill? I should have listening to Jerry when he told me to put on a real coat.... Good Lord, I'm an idiot."

Aaaand that's all. 8I

It just takes a lot of practice. I'm not even all that great and still have a lot to learn about drawing folds in clothes! X'3
Something that really helped me was following artists whose styles were close to my own, or whose styles I admired and studying how they do it. It also helps a lot to study how clothes fold in real life by looking at reference pictures or taking your own to get the pose you want.

Well, I don't really have any particular ones I could look up and point to and say, "I studied this one for this pic" or so. <X3
Primarily though, I study artists I follow here on DevaintART and 2D animated movies, like The Road to El Dorado, Treasure Planet, The Iron Giant... ect ect.

Then just various pictures... Like I've been doing all of these recent character designs for one of my story lines, so I've been going through google images and research sites for references to clothing of the time period.
Stuff like this~~ (all these are pictures I referenced something from at some point)

^ (This last one: I had never drawn pants in that style before, so this picture here helped me out a lot, especially with designing Florian Brandt. )
