Everyone grows up. There comes a time when you’ve got to hang up beer bongs and g-strings. Maybe that’s a little too prolific an example, but some people have wilder days of their youth than others. One day you wake up and realize you’re starting to look silly doing things that you once thought were “cool”. Maybe you’ve gained some responsibility over the years. Sooner or later, the time comes to relinquish some of your fire.   In December 1999, Steve “ESPO” Powers learned this the hard way, but let’s start at the beginning. He'll kill you, Johnny. The asphalt felt like jagged teeth against the balls of my feet. Clawing, digging, biting at my bare calloused flesh with each hurried footfall. The chill breeze nipped at my skin, goosebumps pouring down my spine. How long do I have? I couldn't see the moon in the sky. Clouds veiled the luminary like shadowy fingers—as if someone jumped me from behind; a bag thrown over my head as they pulled me into the darkness. I could hardly see my own hands in front of my face. How did I get myself into this mess? The rustling obsidian walls at either side exhaled a devilish howl, the icy wind clinging to my bones. My fin

My Bio
I'm a 24-year-old writer, pixel artist, and graphic designer, and a recent transplant from Maui to Portland. My favorite writing genres include sci-fi, fantasy, western, and post-apocalyptic worlds. Something I strive to infuse into my writing is a strong sense of emotion and the five senses, which do well to pull the reader into the story on a deeper, more personal level. I've taken numerous writing courses in the fields of both prose and technical writing, and have written for private parties, businesses, and online magazines in subjects ranging from simple fan-fiction to complex instructional articles.

Pixel art is my latest focus, as I'm currently working on a number of projects in the gaming industry, such as overhauling and continuing the art on Project Explore (store.steampowered.com/app/357…), a well reviewed early access survival game released on Steam. My spriting skills range from characters to objects to some level design, at both high and low resolutions. I can also do some simple animation, and am currently advancing my skills in that department.

Concerning graphic design, I've been using for Photoshop for over a decade and taken courses in its use as well. I've created logos, banners, UI assets, and much more. I'm excellent at rendering complex characters and objects, and can accomplish high quality photo manipulation and restoration as well. Whatever the task, I can tackle it.

If you're interested in hiring me for a project that falls under my areas of expertise, feel free to contact me! The best way to get in touch with my quickly is via my email: idiotekque@gmail.com

When I'm not working, I enjoy some gaming on the PC and Xbox 360 and One, playing fantasy football, and watching some anime and other shows and movies. As a lot of my writing suggests, I'm a huge horror buff and love watching and playing all sorts of titles in that genre.

Feel free to add me on Steam if you'd like to: Idiotekque

Back in the land of the Deviants

Back in the land of the Deviants

After another few years, I've found myself back on DevArt. It's probably more out of necessity than anything else, but it's nice to be back. I've been on and off this site for the better portion of my life, so it's always a little bit of a nostalgic trip every time I end up here again. This time, like I said, it's more out of necessity. I just made a huge change and moved out on my own (with roommates, but you get the idea) for the first time. Wish it could have happened sooner, but growing up on Maui, moving out just isn't much of an option for most young people. The prices are unbelievable, and even if you're able to find something cheap,

It's been awhile, hasn't it?

It's been awhile, hasn't it?

The last time I frequented this site, I was just a little guy. It's been over a decade! Ten years later, I'm not here offering the same thing. I still dabble in drawing and general art, but put short: I'm a writer now. Most of my postings will be poetry and short stories, with perhaps a graphic art piece here and there. I used to have such a great imagination when it came to be drawing when I was 10-years-old. Now? Not so much. When it comes to writing--through--I think my imagination is still in full swing. Since I'm all over the place with this social media business, I'll try to update my profile here as often as possible. Be sure to foll

thank you so much for the fav!
Hey that paragraph, needs a little work, it's not bad, you trying to describe getting your ads kicked on side walk, but it needs to be connected more, I feel like the words are too apart from each other, the metaphor need to be closer together.
