Marian looked up just in time to grab the small apple rapidly plunging towards the ground. It hit her paw with a rather loud smack that made Robin poke his head back out of the branches.
"Did you get it?"
"Right here!" Marian held up the little red apple, beaming up at Robin.
"Watch out, I'm comin' down."
With the skill of a fox, which coincidentally he happened to be, Robin scurried further out on his branch, glanced down to make sure he was well clear of Marian, reached down, gripped the branch, and gracefully swung himself down to land in front of Marian. He didn't quite stick the landing though. Robin hit the ground too hard, teetering on the balls of his feet, and promptly fell over on his rump. Marian giggled.
"Well that didn't go quite as planned," Robin said cheerily, dusting his tunic off as he jumped to his feet. Straightening his red-feathered hat, Robin swep
