Chibi Smaug

This is a sculpture I've been wanting to make ever since I saw the last Hobbit movie. It's tiny Smaug, guarding a pile of gold and gems! He even has a little Arkenstone, tucked away in the curve of his tail (a tiny piece of dichro that I'd been saving specifically for him). Hehe, looking back on the last gold-hoarder that I made a bit over a year ago, I can see that I've come a long way since then! I am especially pleased with my new method for assembling the coin base - the pieces stick together better, and I started using two different colors for the coins, which looks more interesting to me. I had a bit of trouble prying everything up from the table when it was time to bake, but I've figured out how to solve that problem and it won't be an issue next time.

I also like how Smaug himself turned out - a bit fiercer than my usual dragons, but still retaining that little/cute look.

Chibi Smaug has been sold. Smaug belongs to Tolkien, but this interpretation is my own.
