Flammen

My inspiration was Wappenbund's song - Flammen. I am not really into describing things, especially not when it comes to describing them not in my native language.. I wanted to create tense atmosphere in the picture, to portray a dying world, consumed by a powerful, yet evaporating force. There aren't any particular details in the picture to attend to, it's the colors and the shapes that matter for me. I am not sure about the inner lightning of the planet; perhaps it should be sharper, but I like it calm and dejected.

I had help from [link] 's flame brushes

Comments and critiques are appreciated, just as always.

EDIT: Resized the planet to 75%, touched the lightning here and there and changed the shadowing slightly.

I allow the galaxy-club to submit this to their gallery.

Hi,
you gave permission for this Canadian Band to use one of your works. My Band is named Per and the Flares (Flares are the flames out of the sun) and I would like to use this sun flame picture (Very nice) for our website and Flyers etc. Thank you for your work, we are impressed. Best wishes and greetings from Germany
Per

Flammen.. I'm norwegian, so I know what it means - it means The flame. btw, really good work on this :P I love the 3D effect on the planet and the flame/light. But the texture on the planet looks a bit weird and too blurry >.>

Hehe, thank you! You can do something comparable, it's just a matter of time, persistency and ideas. :P I'd help you if you got some questions!
Good luck!

This looks really cool, only critique-y thing i could say is that the flames in the bottom left corner are a bit... different, from the rest of the piece. Love it tho.

Thanks you for the comment. :) You're right.... there is some space left in the bottom left for the fractal to distinguish from the brushes. Guess it's a random issue. :)

If anything I'd set the opacity of the shadow to 90%, a tip I got awhile back and it really helps to give the texture of the planet the value it deserves. Other than that nice use of fractals though it gets a bit posterized on the inside edges of the atmosphere. Try developing more than just a planet, maybe an entire scene out of it or something

I might try to play with the shadows... but I am not really sure if it would work to involve some other "characters" to picture. The atmosphere is strained as hell, and I don't want to change that. :D But I will think and see if I can figure something out. ;) Thanks!

Cool. First original fractal I've seen in a while.

^ ^ Thank you! It is actually quite a random fractal piece. :D
