I recently wrote about how the Mac dock bugs me and a some people seemed to agree.  Now I have a beef with iTunes.  You know what, iTunes just plain sucks.  When you see past the sexy interface and quality skins and get down to managing a large digital library, it falls completely apart.  I hate to say it too considering I have about 40 gig of music, videos and apps in my library.  It's painfully slow, always buggy, and ridiculously awkward if you're a serious digital collector and have a lot of digital detritus to manage.  I've been toting my incredibly bloated iTunes library around with me across multiple desktops, laptops and external driv

Jailbird Beware

0 min read
The big buzz around Apple and the iPhone seems to be http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2368102,00.asp (their recent patent filing) that everyone says will let them deactivate a jail-broken phone.  The magazines and blogs are saying that; "... for those currently jailbreaking their phones, the Apple patent would allow them to begin limiting features on a compromised device and even allow Apple to delete all of the data."  This seems like a response to our Librabry of Congress' ruling that http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2010-07-26/apple-iphone-users-have-u-s-blessing-to-jailbreak-add-own-applications.html (jailbreaking is not a violation of c

The Mac dock blows. There, I said it. And I bet many of you avid Mac tweakers have been thinking this very same thing ever since http://fav.me/d2uz6h7 (Chinese Table by ~zurbaua) hit the http://idock.deviantart.com/ (iDock Project). I want something like the mock-ups above!  And the new and growing breed of Windows docks are getting better looking and more customizable everyday!  I am talking about the Mac dock versus http://xwdock.aqua-soft.org/ (XWindows Dock), http://rocketdock.com/ (RocketDock), and http://home.cogeco.ca/~rklauncher/ (RKLauncher).  These are great looking and more flexible dock utilities.
