I awoke in the middle of the night letting out a soft scream. Looking over at the clock it was only two in the morning. I had a bad dream, something that I never want to experience. I tried my best to go back to sleep but I found out that was easier said then done.. It was cold, I couldn’t get warm even under the blankets. I could hear my door open slowly, whoever it was, was trying to be quiet. Turning over I looked towards the door but it was too dark to see who it was.
“Are you alright Jack? I heard you scream a little bit.” Tyler said. It was Tyler.
“It was nothing really, just a bad dream.” I replied.
“Would you want to talk about it?” Tyler came around and sat on the bed next to me. Part of me did but part of me didn’t want to tell him. I really didn’t know what the dream meant but it just felt all too real.
“I was attacked again but instead of wild wolves, I was attacked by werewolves and they took me away to where they lived. They said that they needed me for something. I tried to escape but couldn’t. They came after me and attacked me again almost killing me.” I cried a bit.
“Just relax Jack, it was only a dream, that’s it. Nothing more nothing less.” Tyler said hugging me.
“I know but it just felt so real, so real I could almost feel the pain when they were attacking me.”
“That’s how they go sometimes whether we like it or not. It’s unfortunate but it’s something we really can’t control. However I can assure you nothing like that will ever happen. We will keep you safe.” Tyler replied.
“I know you guys will” I shivered a bit. I was still could and just couldn’t keep warm.
“What’s the matter Jack?” Tyler questioned.
“I just can’t get warm. That’s all. I’ll be fine once I get back to sleep. I’m sorry I woke you up.” I said.
Tyler smiled and laid down next to me, wrapping his arms around me, pulling me close. “It’s alright Jack. I just wanted to make sure you were alright.” A chill ran up my spine followed by a sudden warmth. Between his fur and natural body heat, it warmed me up fairly quick.
“Thanks Tyler.” I replied.
“Don’t mention it.”
“How do you sleep with blankets covering you?” I asked
“You get used to it, it’s not as bad as you think.”
I rolled over and closed my eyes. I could feel Tyler’s breath running down my neck. It was such a nice feeling, something that I never experienced before. I enjoyed it, it put me into a deep sleep.
About an hour later the door to the room opened again, it was Aaron. Tyler picked his head up and looked at Aaron. Aaron smiled. “Everything alright?”
“He’s now fine now, just had a bad dream.” Tyler whispered.
“That’s never good, I hope he’s doing better now.”
“It seems like he is. He’s out like a light.” Tyler noted.
“That’s good, I’m glad. I’d hate to see him have another bad dream. Thanks for checking on him.”
“It’s not a problem. He still seemed a bit uneasy and cold so I just stayed with him.” Tyler replied.
“Thank you Tyler, would you like to stay with him today?”
“That’s up to you, if you need me at the diner I’ll go but if you want me to stay here with him I will. I don’t care.” Tyler noted.
“You like him don’t you?”
“Well yeah I like him don’t you?” Tyler asked.
“Of course I like him but I’m asking do you like him.”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” Tyler huffed.
“I think you know exactly what I’m talking about.”
“Yeah, yeah. We’ll see.” Tyler growled.
“I’ll see you Tyler”
“See you later Aaron.” Tyler replied.
When I opened my eyes it was morning. I stretched out a bit and set my arms down. Tyler was still laying next to me, he still had his arm still draped over me. Taking my hand I grabbed his paw smiling. “Good morning Jack. Sleep well?” Tyler asked.
“I did. I didn’t have anymore bad dreams after you showed up.” I replied.
“That’s good I’m glad.”
“Why aren’t you at the diner? Shouldn’t you be there?” I asked.
“Nah Sam let me stay here with you today.”
“Good, I like spending time with you.” I said.
“Do you now?”
“I really do. Granted I like spending time with everyone but you especially.” I confessed.
“Well I’ll make note of that.”
“Hey, would it be possible to go and visit everyone today?” I asked.
“Of course we can. I think everyone would be really happy you decided to stop by.”
“Alright cool, I guess I’ll get ready.” I grabbed my bag from the dresser and went into the bathroom. I quickly undressed, the wounds were now completely gone. It was like nothing ever happened. I turned on the shower, stepped in and quickly washed up.
Once done with my shower I stepped out and grabbed my bag and pulled out a set of clothes. With the clothes came a necklace that fell to the floor. I picked it up and looked at it. It was a necklace that had been given to me the day I was born really. I’ve had it ever since. Though I’ve really never worn it since because I’m not one to wear any type of jewelry. Hell the only reason I kept it is because it had a wolf head on it. I wonder if it had any kind of meaning behind it or something, or it could just be a normal necklace. Perhaps Tyler would know something about it. I got changed and walked out of the bathroom. Tyler was still laying on the bed.
“Hey Tyler do you know anything about this necklace?” I said handing it to him. He reached over and took it from me to look at it.
“How did you come across this. Where did you even get this?” Tyler asked.
“I got it the day I was born and I’ve had it ever since. I’ve never worn it because I’m not one to wear jewelry. The only reason I kept it was because it had a wolf on it.”
“It’s a good thing you didn’t get rid of it.” Tyler replied.
“Why what is it?”
“I’ll have to take you to Aaron. I think he’ll know a lot more than I do.” Tyler explained.
“Alright that sounds good, shall we get going then?”
“I don’t know this bed is pretty comfortable.” Tyler smirked.
“Oh come on you.” I went over and tried to pull Tyler out of bed. That didn’t go over to well. Instead of me pulling him out of the bed he took hold of my arm and pulled me on top of him.
“Nice try Jack but that’s not going to work but if you really want to go I’ll go.” He chuckled.
“Yes please.” I got up off of Tyler and he got out of bed. The two of us headed downstairs and went on our way.
The drive just to get to the main road took about twenty to thirty minutes. I never realized how far out we actually were but I really enjoyed it. It was nice to actually get out and go back into town. I think it’ll be good for me. It was about another twenty minutes before we actually got to the diner. Once there we got out I looked around and there weren’t many cars the early breakfast rush had already come and gone.
Walking in we were greeted by Alyx who gave me a big hug. “Nice to see you Jack, glad you came for a visit.”
“It feels good to be here.” I said.
“That’s good. Well you two sit wherever you please.”
“Thanks Alyx.” I replied. I took a seat at the counter, Tyler sat right next to me. Aaron was manning the front and he came over to use. “It’s nice to see you here Jack. Is there anything you’d like to eat?”
“I’d be happy with an omelette.” I replied.
“Coming right up, Tyler?”
“Steak and eggs please.” Tyler said.
Dan and Jaci where in the back doing all the cooking. I waved at them, Jaci was the only one to wave back. Dan was still being well Dan I guess. I simply shrugged my shoulders and went back to what I was doing.
“Well if it isn’t Jack. It’s nice to see you back son.” I heard a voice call out. Turning I saw that it was Mr. Grady one of the older regulars. He comes in everyday for his cup of coffee, toast, eggs, and sausage, and reads the daily newspaper. “Hey Mr. Grady how have you been sir?” I asked.
“I’m doing just fine.”
“Well then that’s good.” I replied.
“I’ve been missing talking to ya. I hope you’re enjoying your time off.”
“I am I just thought I’d pop by to see how everyone was doing.” I said.
“I’m glad you came by it was really nice to see you. For now though I better get going. Hope to see you back soon.” Mr. Grady waved as he headed out the door. Sam brought or food over to us. “Here you are.”
“Thanks Aaron it’s looks amazing.”
“So Aaron, Jack has a necklace that I think you should take a look at.” Tyler said.
“Oh really now?” Aaron said puzzled.
“Yea, Tyler said you might know something about it.” I took the necklace off and handed it to Aaron.
“Say Jack, where did you get this?” Aaron asked.
“Well I’ve had it ever since I could remember, since the day I was born really.”
“Interesting, you really don’t know what you have here do you?” He asked.
“No not a clue.”
“Well this necklace was from a tribe of werewolves. One that has been lost to the ages really.” He explained.
“A tribe of werewolves?”
“Correct, you see long a go werewolves were in tribes, much like Native Americans. In fact some Native Americans were werewolves. Though you don’t seem to be Native American.” He went on.
“What makes you say that?”
“Seeing as you actually have this necklace and the fact you aren’t a werewolf already leads me to believe that something very tragic took place with this tribe. Hence them being lost. No records of them existing.” He mentioned.
“What does this have to do with the necklace?”
“You see the necklace would’ve been worn by the leader of the tribe. From my understanding it was said to hold some kind of power. What that power is, I’m not really sure.” He confessed.
“What should I do with it then?”
“Keep it safe, never let it out of your sight. If I were you I’d wear it all the time.” He noted.
“Alright I’ll do that.” I said putting the necklace back on.
“So do you two have anything else planned for the day?” He asked.
“I’d like to spend some time in town. I need to go to the art store and pick up some things. After that I’m not sure.
“You draw?” Aaron asked.
“I do, I’m not very good at it but I like doing it.”
“Not very good at it? Jack please you’re an amazing artist. You drew me so well.” Tyler chimed in.
“Is that so? Well Jack I would love to see this drawing tonight.” Aaron said.
“Alright I’ll show but trust me it’s not very good.”
“I’ll be the judge of that.” Aaron smirked.
Tyler and I finished eating and sat back for a bit talking about other things to do. After going back and forth for a bit we decided that after we go to the art store we’ll go to the park. Before we left I said goodbye to everyone.
“Thanks for the food Aaron. I really enjoyed it.” I said.
“Don’t thank me, thank Jaci.” Aaron smiled, pointing to the kitchen. Jaci looked up at me and waved, I waved back. I smiled and got up from the counter. “I’ll see everyone at home.” Tyler got up as well, I started to head towards the door.
“See you at home Jack.” Alyx said. I smiled and waved at everyone before walking outside to the car.
Tyler wasn’t too far behind. “Hey, Tyler.” Aaron called out.
“What’s up Aaron?” Tyler asked.
“I just wanted to apologize for this morning. I didn’t mean to offend you or anything. I was only teasing.”
“I know but you’re right, I have feelings for him, I always have. I just hope he feels the same.” Tyler confessed.
“There’s only one way to find out. Don’t worry though, I think he feels the same.”
“You really think so?” Tyler questioned.
“I really do, call it a hunch.”
“Thanks Aaron, I better get going, don’t want to keep him waiting.” Tyler noted.
“You two go have fun, we’ll see you guys at home.”
“See you at home.” Tyler said as he left the diner.
Soon enough we arrived art the store, I got out of the car and started to head right in. Tyler was right behind me as I went in. I took my time to look around and see if there was anything new or different that I might have missed before. Tyler seemed a bit anxious, it’s like he wanted to tell me something.
“Oh it’s nothing feels weird to not be working I guess.” Tyler explained.
“I can understand that.” I finished looking around and grabbed what I came here for. A new sketch book, some pencils, basically anything for sketching and coloring I grabbed. After that Tyler and I got back into the car.
“Alright Jack where to next?” Tyler smiled.
“I guess the park, unless you want to go somewhere else first.” I replied.
“The park is perfectly fine with me.” Tyler chuckled.
We drove off, heading to the park which was near the edge of town. It was a decent sized park. It had a pond, a small snack stand, and some different paths to walk along. There weren’t many cars in the parking lot as we pulled in which was perfectly fine with me. The less people the better in my opinion.
“So care to go for a walk?” Tyler asked.
“Of course.” I replied. Tyler and I looked at each other and smiled before starting on our walk. The events of this morning and even last night were still fresh in my mind. My heart began to race just thinking about it. Though I wasn’t sure if Tyler felt the same way. I’ve never felt this feeling before towards anyone ever before, or at least not this intense. I mean I’ve never been in a relationship for that matter with a male or female. I wanted to say something but didn’t in case Tyler didn’t feel the same way but in the back of my mind he had to right? After everything that happened between us you’d think he’d feel the same way. I didn’t want to push it though, so I was just going to wait and see if he’d say anything to me. If not then so be it.
As we continued on our walk Tyler stopped when we came to a more secluded part of the path we were on. I stopped with him.
“Is there something wrong?” I asked.
Tyler stood there fore a few moments before letting off a long sigh. “Look Jack about this morning. I’m sorry about all that. I think I took it a little too far.”
“If I can be honest with you, I enjoyed it a lot.” I confessed.
“So did I. I still think I took it a bit far, not knowing who you truly are just yet but I couldn’t help myself I guess. So for that I’m still sorry.”
“No need to be sorry, again I enjoyed it.” I replied.
“Are you sure?”
“Positive, I mean if I didn’t like it then I would’ve tried to get away.” I laughed.
“Jack listen, I have some feelings for you that I just can’t explain. I’ve had them for a few month now but haven’t really gotten the chance to spend time with you like I have in the past few days. Those feeling have only grown because of it. I love you Jack.”
Those words, those were the words I’ve been waiting to hear. My heart skipped a beat as he said it. I could feel the smile on my face grow wide as I looked at him. I started to shake as spoke. “Well Tyler, I have feeling for you as well, and I love you too.” Tyler reached down and grabbed my hand and pulled me into a kiss. We stood there for a few moments before breaking the kiss. We both blushed and then looked away. “There I said it.” Tyler huffed.
“You make it sound like it’s a bad thing.” I mentioned.
“Well no it’s not a bad thing. It’s just that Aaron kind knew that I had feelings for you and was teasing me about it a little bit this morning.”
“I see. Well I’m glad we both admitted to it and I’m sure we’ll still get teased about it a little bit but hey what can we do. We’re a family and that’s what family’s do best.” I noted.
“I know, I’m glad we both said it too. To be truthful I wasn’t sure what you were going to say or how you were going to react. Though I kind of got the feeling you loved me as well.”
“Well you weren’t wrong about that.” I smirked.
“I guess not. Come on let’s get back to the house.” I nodded. Tyler and I made our way back to the car and drove home.
Once back home Tyler went right to his werewolf form. “Ahh that’s better.”
“Is that why you wanted to come back home?” I teased.
“Well kind of. I don’t really care to be in human form for long periods of time unless I really have to be.”
“So basically for work and that’s it?” I asked.
“Yeah that’s it really, I get a little anxious when I’m in human form for an extended period of time. Though today there was other things going as well.
“Thank you for staying in human for me and taking me into town. I really appreciate it. It’s what I needed I think.” I said.
“Hey anything for you hun.” I couldn’t help but laugh at that comment. “What’s so funny?”
“Oh just you.” I chuckled. Tyler smiled and stared at me. I wasn’t sure what he was planning. Then without warning he jumped towards me and pinned me to the ground. I hit the ground with a thud. “Think I’m funny now?” He smirked.
“No I think you’re cute now.” I replied. I just lay there staring at Tyler. He smiled and leaned down and kissed me. Now the first kiss was well incredible, this one however, this one was different but it was still enjoyable. It did feel weird though, the feeling of his cold nose press up against mine sent shivers up my spine and the feeling of the fur on his muzzle brush against my face made the experience something to cherish. Though I could easily get used to this feeling. We just laid there on the ground kissing. I honestly didn’t want it to end. Though sadly it did have to come to an end, for now at least. Tyler got off of me and helped me to my feet, bringing me into a hug. “Love you Jack.” He said.
“I love you too Tyler.” I replied.
“Come on let’s go inside and watch some TV or something.” Tyler and I headed inside the house and sat down on the couch. Tyler turned on the TV and went right to the cooking channel. It was one of those cooking challenge shows to see who could come up with the best dishes with the ingredients given. “So why don’t any of you guys go on one of those shows?” I asked.
“None of us see the need too really. It would fun to do but to us it’s just not worth it.”
“That makes sense. You don’t need to show everyone your good at cooking. As long as you love doing it and the people around you enjoy the food that’s all that matters.” I noted.
“Exactly. I couldn’t have said it better myself. We have great people who always come back to our place and never complain about the food. Sure we have our off days but who doesn’t our customers always understand.” I nodded in agreement. I stretched out a bit and yawned, leaning against Tyler who held me close. He was so soft and warm. I grew tired and eventually nodded off.
When I opened my eyes I looked around. I was still laying against Tyler. The TV was still on. I looked up at him rubbing my eyes. “You’re so cute when you sleep.” He smiled.
“How long was I asleep for?” I asked.
“Eh, about two hours or so.”
“I can’t believe I just fell asleep like that. I wasn’t even tired.” I yawned.
“It’s alright. Again I found it very cute.” I just shook my head and chuckled.
Tyler and I continued to watch TV for another hour or so before the others finally came home. Aaron came over to me “Hey Jack I need to talk to you.”
I nodded, “Of course Aaron.” I got up and followed Sam upstairs into his bedroom. We sat down on his bed. “Well first off I’m happy you and Tyler admitted your feelings for one another.” He smiled.
“How did you know we admitted it to each other?” I asked.
“Well the fact you two were cuddled up next to each other didn’t hint at anything at all.”
“Alright Mr. Sarcastic, yeah it felt good to get that off my chest honestly.” I confessed.
“We’re all very happy for you too. You make a cute couple.”
“Thanks.” I responded.
“Don’t mention it. Anyway back to the matter at hand. You’re necklace.”
“What about it?” I asked.
“As I said before, it came from a werewolf tribe that has been lost to the ages. How you ended up with it is beyond me, seeing as you’re obviously not a werewolf. The only thing I can think of is someone in your family either stole the necklace from the tribe which might explain what happened to them or someone in your family married one the leader of the tribe and chose not to become a werewolf. Thus the gift eventually faded out of your genes. Can’t be completely sure though.”
“Is there anyway we can find out what happened?” I asked.
“Yeah but hang tight on that alright? I need to get in touch with an old friend first.”
“Alright, so is there anything else?” I asked.
“Well, have you made a decision on whether or not you want to become a werewolf?”
“I have and I do want to become one. I think it’ll be fun.” I replied.
“That’s the spirit. I’m glad you want to become one.”
“When are you going to change me?” I asked.
“How does after your birthday sound?”
“That’s fine with me. It’ll give me more time to prepare.” I noted.
“Precisely , don’t worry about it too much though. I promise it won’t be as bad as you think. We’ll all keep you safe and help you get through this.”
“I know you guys will. I really appreciate that.” I smiled.
“So shall we get back downstairs?”
Aaron and I went back downstairs to join Tyler, Alyx, and Jaci who were all watching TV. I went over and sat next to Tyler who wrapped his arm around me, pulling me in close. I looked up at him and smiled, he smiled back. I laid my head against him and just sat there, watching TV. Today was one hell of day, Tyler and I admitted our feeling for one another, I finally got back into town, I got some interesting news, and most of all I was going to become a werewolf in about a month. Needless to say I was excited but also a little bit nervous. My life was going to be changed, forever.
