Thinking how long to work on one piece of art

I quickly looked how often really great artists post art, and it seems to range from every 3 days to every 20 days. That's twice a week and once every three weeks.

In a way that's actually a personal relief. While I was younger, I was a huge fan of an artist who would upload new art everyday, and they always claimed that it's important to make a new piece of art everyday. Thus previously, I have struggled with the feeling that I'm too slow or that I spend too much time on one piece while simultaneously also feeling that my art tends to look boring, rushed and bare bones. But now I know that it's okay to spend an extra day (or a week) working on an art piece. Of course, I still don't want to go full perfectionist and work too much on one artwork, otherwise I'd never get anything done.

I wonder how good my art would be, if I did it this way:

1. day: thumbnails/sketches/ideas
2. day: line art
3. day: color
4. day: more shadows/highlights
5. day: texture/details
6. day: final effects, level corrections, color balance, finish

I really should try something like that, but I fear my biggest enemy, impatience. I love coloring, shading and adding texture, while making sure the pose is good, line art is ready, and coming up with a background is tiresome.
