It seems that a popular topic of discussion is whether nor not a colored hijab can be considered hijab. There are many women believe that hijab is not truly hijab unless you are head to toe in jet black fabric. They often use the excuse that men may be more attracted to the color or that the colored clothing may attract more attention.

I think the black attracts more attention, at least in the US, its all relative to your culture. If I ran around in color in the middle of Saudi Arabia Id be attracting A LOT of attention. Same if you ran around in all black in Africa amongst the gorgous colors. I have found that the girls that wear all black abayas and scarves in the US attract way more attention then those who blend western clothing into hijab or colored abayas. I say neither is the authority, both work, choose what you like.

The excuse though that MEN are more attracted to color is rediculous. Outside of maybe the color red (since red is linked directly to sex and whatnot). Ive asked quite a few men and most find BLACK to be one of the sexiest colors (Im sure youve all heard of the "little black dress") But if you wear color men are not going to suddenly come out of the woodwork and swarm you, it just doesn't work that way.
