Poverty is the mother of madness
When people suffer in poverty, they lose all reason and turn to desperation. The alternative to such unhinged behaviour would be starvation and death.
This is why people turn to crime. They will steal, they will kill, they will join terrorists, just to live and stave off death, starvation, and violence.
This is why families torture their children. They will force them to work, turn them into brain-dead copies of themselves, fearing that a fun life will lead to poverty again.
These, to me, are destructive against a person's life, limiting them by killing their dreams and forcing them to repeat this cycle to their own children. It is tempting to say that these make me ashamed of being a Chinese.
That is why if charities fail, a government should take more action to save the poor from descending into greater acts of madness. If not, we should encourage people to help the poor, to stop them from dragging society into even more chaos and self-destruction.

O Land of Fire
Victorious are thee, O Land of Fire,
O Home of the seven sacred blazes
Victorious are thee, O Nest of the Sun,
O Throne of the Sun God in his splendour
Victorious are thee, O Golden Crane,
Burning the night and terrors with thy radiance
Victorious are thee, O Yellow Crow,
Heralding the day with each call and cry!
Victorious are thee, O First of All Lands,
The first to see the Sun in its newborn radiance
Victorious are thee, O Last of all Last,
The last sight being the Sun as you die together as one!
Victorious are thee, O Sun and Stars,
Bringers of fire, light, wisdom, and glory!
