I had a strategy by hordel I had a strategy by hordel
I had a strategy,
I had a plan.

Everything seemed so simple,
and then I grew up.

Now whatever I do,
has to be planned.

Knight to Bishop,
Queen to Pawn.

When did things get so complicated?

I had a strategy,
I had a plan...

There is this AWESOME statue of a man playing chess downtown here that I always wanted to go take pics of so I finally did today.
I have some more I might upload from that.

The white lines accross his face are snowflakes, as it was snowing when I was taking the pics.

Thanks for watching.

Not many photographs inspire me to right poetry much anymore...this photo says alot.

I had hope
I had hope

Hope had a song
Storms come leaving all in despair

I had hope
I had a song

Despair had hope
Yet hope was left without despair

Snowflakes fall
Statue remains

No pain
No gain

For without strategy
A thoughtless brain is thought to succumb to be insane

Frozen insane
Yet chess was left without change

Loss insane
Intentional mind game

Love the title, and the perspective is great. The close-up of the chess pieces [link] is fascinating.

This is a photo?? Looked like pencil-work to me!
I like the commentary.

This is a statue?!

The snow on his hands is very impressive, but look at the coat and face! I was sure this was a slightly manipulated photograph.

Not just that though, this is one of the photographs that carries an evident and strong message.

Wow :) This deserves a favourite.

Great Shot!! Loved the way it was captured, with the flakes and all...

the sculpture looks so surreal, as though it was for real that it was just a man playing chess while thinking of his next step when I saw it...Can't believe it's a sclupture...

Love the description that went along with it as well...

Great joB!! =) (Smile)

This is such a great piece. The overall mood conveyed is very well captured and I particularly love the description. Nicely done. Keep up the good work.
A slower speed would make them worse Reeko. ;) (Wink)

Such a sad feel to this photo and the words add a lot.
maybe a slower shutter speed would've eliminated the "snow lines"
or would a slower shutter make them worse?Confused

iridium Featured By Owner Nov 11, 2002
Awesome picture, awesome statue... well chosen shutter speed IMHO, just long enough to capture the motion in the snow but not too long to over-emphasize it... great.

awesome photo great text too.
Like these statue photographs a lot, thank you.
gaston Featured By Owner Nov 11, 2002
ok, so the chess player is frozen as a statue.
then he's frozen in snow.
and now you take your turn in freezing him yet again with this shot.

this has your "signature" over-exposure again, which works quite well for this photograph.
and the textual ornamentation completes this artistic process, of course.

i love it ;) (Wink)

wonderful work :) (Smile) I love the snow, it really adds a ot.. your description was perfect also.. I will take a peek at the rest of your gallery now :D (Big Grin)

I just LOVE this piece Harry!!! WOW!!! now i have to go and visit the chess man here downtown again :) (Smile) i used to hang out there all the time when i first moved here in calgary so this photo is bringing back so many memories but at the same time it gives the chessman so much more...your angle, your description, the lighting and the blurry snow in this picture make this an instant favourite!!!!!! :) (Smile) I used to think how lonely chessman must feel all alone downtown (and i used to relate to that) but now he has all these people on deviant checking him out and i am glad i got to see him again lol :) (Smile)
