In a phenomenally bad mood, and this is the only place I can complain about it because on any other forum, the information would travel too much. Damn this age of connectivity we live in.
I have this volunteering gig at a local college radio station. Pretty neat, considering I'd like to pursue a career in broadcasting. Unfortunately, the heads of the station think my music selection is too "mainstream" for a station that prides itself in only playing music that is terrible by bands you've never heard of. Honestly, we're talking a couple of songs each week by Gregg Allman and J. Giels, and the CDs are in THEIR collection, not mine. This has put me on their "shit list".
In addition, an emergency came up, and being unfamiliar with station policy (because of being trained by other staff that ALSO did not know the policy) I failed to call in to the station manager about my absence. A mistake on my part, but it didn't help my situation. Higher up on the "shit list" I go.
Apparently, though, I took a step over the line when I made a joke on the station's yahoo group about broadcasting in my underwear. Too far. I am now banned from broadcasting until I have a meeting with the station manager. Are you FUCKING KIDDING ME!? An UNDERWEAR JOKE!? That shit is G-rated and you know it.
The world is full of humorless bastards and assholes. Every moment I live is a never ending struggle to poke fun at them to ease my pain, yet not to poke so much fun that someone is offended. Grumble grumble, indeed.
