Now for something completely different: a quick, rough sketch of Teostra from MHW (a game I've been thoroughly enjoying for the past month or so). Reference for the picture is that beautiful shot of Teo during his introduction cutscene. I love this beast, it's incredibly majestic with that lion-esque face, yet so bad-ass.
Earlier I received some feedback on my previous deviation, that I relied too much on effects, and honestly, that hit home. Ever since I went digital, my art became the opposite of what it used to be. I went from rough, usually grey-scale sketches/drawings, never caring about colour and effects, to spamming the hell out of the possibilities technology had to offer. I had to learn what digital has to offer, but at the same time, I became obsessed with making everything look as clean as possible, with the fanciest, shiniest effects, while rough sketches do have their charm as well.
I realise the best step in becoming a better artist is to embrace both sides, and try to use them both to their best extent. I personally look forward to the results, hopefully it won't disappoint. Feedback is important guys, it helps us grow, realise things we wouldn't have realised on our own, and allows us to become better artists. So please, feedback is much appreciated.
As always, have a happy day~
