I used my daughter Nellie Jo for a model as well as a cardboard construction by my friend Michael Carnright.

So realistic... I love the sun effect...

The girl looks so sad.

Nellie Jo is my elder daughter. Looking back, she didn't have the happiest childhood :(. She seems to be doing OK now, though.

In this painting I was trying to make her look she was lost in contemplation.

Glad to know things are going better for her. She´s a beautiful child, and looks like very intelligent, too.

Thanks! I think she's beautiful and very smart. But doesn't every parent regard their kids as exceptionally intelligent and good looking? :).

That´s true. Here in Brazil we have the expression "Mother Owl", because an owl always thinks her children are prettier and smarter than everyone else´s . :)

Wow, looks really cool! ^^ I love the glowy, almost reptilian texture of her shirt

Regarding textures, I try to portray The Tapestry of Rorschachery. Just as the imagination can pull faces or butterflies out of Rorschach inkblots, my imagination pulls things out of the random shapes in the textures of objects. Take various alphabets, geometrical shapes, Persian and Navajo tapestries, stylized human, animal and plant forms, put them all together in a blender. Then paint all surfaces with this strange mixture. It covers my skin, the desk I'm working on, the walls, every surface in my environment. This is my attempt to describe The Tapestry of Rorschachery. Sometimes the coating is light and transparent, other times strong, vibrant and moving.

Thank you!

Do you live near Leeuwarden? My favorite artist was born there.
