So ayeh. I's alive.

I deleted all my messages D: so busy this summer. And away so much. And... and... gaiaonline is distracting.

Heya, dA muro is kinda cool. Anyone tried it? D:

Also, I've become totally obsessed with the Napoleonic Wars kthxbye.

BUT I MISSED YOU ALLLLLL. :iconscreamingplz:

Eheh, it's a monkey. I wasn't expecting that. Look! Another monkey! :iconluffyplz:

Stop by and say hi! Oh, and happy birthday to all those I missed.

Updated from last year.
To the reader of previews: This really is important. Please read this, and all the way through.

I don't know how many people out there know of Terry Pratchett and his Discworld books, but the aforementioned writer is one of the best in the world– in fact, he was knighted.

But as with everything else good, it comes to an end. Pratchett was diagnosed with early Alzheimers, a fatal disease which kills only after complete loss of memory.

My grandmother was killed by Alzheimers.

I can tell you personally, it was one of the– if not the absolute– worst experience of my life. Seeing her slowly fade, knowing that one day she would look at my face and not recognize it. And when that day came, knowing that she was not all that long for this world. But she lingered, and we never knew what sudden bursts of memory would occur, and when she wouldn't know anyone. The worst part was that a few days before she passed on, she had one of those bursts of memories, and remembered my name and face.

It's a terrible, terrible disease.

But God, why did it have to strike Terry Pratchett?

Anyway. The reason for this journal is that there's an awareness campaign started by fans of Terry Pratchett's Discworld series. If anyone's ever read his book "Night Watch," all the old soldiers and cops who had fought at Treacle Mine Road (Truth! Justice! Freedom! Reasonably Priced Love! And a hard boiled egg!) wore a lilac on the 25th of May to remember. Wear the Lilac Day took the day to remember Alzheimers. They're selling artificial lilacs, all proceeds to go to Alzheimers research.

Now, citizens of gaiaonline have taken note of this, and are taking the opportunity to spread Alzheimers awareness, but I decided I needed to tell my personal story.

I'm asking you to all remember this, and to wear purple or a lilac sprig on the 25th of May. If anyone notices, tell them why.

Please spread the word.
Thank you.

Here's the link to the gaia thread for this year, which isn't quite set up yet, but being updated: www.gaiaonline.com/forum/gaia-…

Please help.

When I was a beauty, some twenty years ago.

Oh Holy Night, the stars are brightly shining!

In a town in the woods at the top of a hill there's a house where no one lives
of all the money that ere I had, I spent it in good company.
I do believe there will be
Tall and tan and young and lovely
Thumbelina, Thumbelina, tiny little thing!

Pale was the wounded Knight
Bleeding hearts defiled by sin
The sun must set to rise
Oh, Santy Anna gained the day
Tonight we're going to meet some lads, us girls is dressed up gaily.

Music Rec's
I mentioned the Arrogant Worms in my last journal, and several people asked me what they were. So here's some songs by them I'm recommending.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vj3Jqu… The Last Saskatchewan Pirate- my favorite song by them, and the first one I heard.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=KmK0bZ… Carrot Juice is Murder

www.youtube.com/watch?v=3M3zKu… Gaelic Song- I personally find this one absolutely hilarious.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pp2MfL… Go to Sleep, Little Leech- A wonderful.... lullaby.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=AJsrcb… History is Made by Stupid People

www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xnk-cH… Rocks and Trees!

www.youtube.com/watch?v=OTc-Ih… And, just for good measure, Rocks and Trees in reverse! [Read the lyrics in the description while listening to this, they're amazingly accurate.]

www.youtube.com/watch?v=m8ju1Z… Canada is Really Big

www.youtube.com/watch?v=JraZLt… Dangerous. If you're looking for some serious musical ability, you'll find it in the last 30 seconds of this song. But watch the whole thing anyway.

Well, I think that's about it from me for now.
Let me know what you think. If you like the music, maybe I'll do recommendations with other bands I like.
Please comment on the art section at the beginning? I try, I really do. It'd be a big help.
Anyway.

JOURNAL

Journal Entry: Fri Nov 13, 2009, 5:58 AM

...and before I say anything else, I want to draw your attention to that Bootstrap stamp. Isn't it adorable? Bootstrap never gets enough love.

And because I never update anyway and can use a skin– here's something that'll probably stay up for quite a while. Although I may post more with other lyrics or summat. Oh, and the link at the top truly is awesome.

The night was dark
The seas were rough
The port lay straight ahead
The booze ran out
The men grew tired
And this is what they said:
"Captain if you cannot find a place to set her down,
then you'll be sleeping right along with this vessel in the ground!"

Well the jolly roger pulled through
And made it to the land
We disembarked, went into town
With vengence in our hand
The children cried
The woman sighed
The men would turn their heads
So with a smile we shouted loud and this is what we said:

"WHOAAAAAH,
Raise'em in the air!
We'll knock you up
And slap you down
And never seem to care
Wooohooohh
Another one for me
Cause we're the filthy vermin
That will set you people free!"

With nothing left for us to drink
The night was winding down
But still the girls kept swaggering
And still hanging around
Oh, mister can you tell me, where I can find a man?
The only thing that you'll find is the back side of me hand!

"Wooohhoooh
Raise'em in the air
We'll knock you up
And slap you down
And never seem to care.
Wooohooohh
Another one for me
We're the filthy vermin
That will set you people free
We're the filthy vermin
That will set you people free
Wooohhoooh,
Raise'em in the air
We'll knock you up
And slap you down
And never seem to care
Wooohooohh
Another one for me
We're the filthy vermin
That will set you people free
We're the filthy vermin
That will set you people free!"

Sir Rupert Murgatroyd
His leisure and his riches
He ruthlessly employed
In persecuting witches.
With fear he'd make them quake -
He's duck them in his lake -
He'd break their bones
With sticks and stones,
And burn them at the stake!
This sport he much enjoyed,
Did Rupert Murgatroyd -
No sense or shame
Or pity came
To Rupert Murgatroyd!
Once, on the village green
A palsied hag he roasted,
And what took place, I ween,
Shook his composure boasted,
For, as the torture grim
Seized on each withered limb,
The writhing dame
'Mid fire and flame
Yelled forth this curse on him:
"Each Lord of Ruddygore,
Despite his best endeavour,
Shall do one crime, or more,
Once, every day, for ever!
This doom he can't defy
However he may try,
For should he stay
His hand, that day
In torture he shall die!"
This doom they can't avoid,
These Lords of Murgatroyd -
Both last and first,
You're all accurst
Oh, House of Murgatroyd!
The prophesy came true:
Each heir who held the title
Had, every day, to do
Some crime of import vital;
Until, with guilt o'erplied,
"I'll sin no more!" he cried,
And on the day
He said that say,
In agony he died!
And thus, with sinning cloyed,
Has died each Murgatroyd,
And so shall fall,
Both one and all,
Each coming Murgatroyd!

THE GOOD
*to the tune of "It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas"*
It's beginning to look a lot like fish-men
Everywhere I go;
From the minute I got to town
And started to look around
I thought these ill-bred people's gillslits showed.
I'm beginning to hear a lot of fish-men
Right outside my door,
As I try to escape in fright
To the moonlit Innsmouth night
I can hear some more.

No, seriously. <><

I've been seeing fishmen everywhere– first, of course, all over my ceiling in the form of DMC/AWE fanart, but also in some rather unexpected places. I've just started up again on reading One Piece, and was watching something about horrible dub moments, and guess what? There were FISHMEN. LOTS OF THEM. ❤ I was just getting over the awesomeness of the One Piece fishmen when I suddenly and unexpectedly I became obsessed with A Shoggoth on the Roof, the most amazing musical since Damn Yankees.  It's AWESOME. GO LISTEN TO IT. Did I mention it's awesome? I mean, how many musicals result in people subconciously singing "To LIFE! To life! I'll bring them! I'll bring all these dead men to life!" or screaming "TENTACLES!" at the top of their lungs? And don't even get me started on "If I were a Deep One!" Just go listen. Link's to a playlist, since if I linked to the first song it emotified it. www.youtube.com/view_play_list…

Anyway.

Er...

*train of thought derails*

OH. So. Shoggoth is based on the works of H.P. Lovecraft, so I started to read them. And guess what I found?

FISHMEN. Lots of 'em. So, looking into Lovecraft songs more, I found their Scary Solstice CDs, one of which includes the song quoted at the top of this journal. Here's a link, if anyone wants. www.cthulhulives.org/Solstice/…

If you need me, I'll be hiding in the corner, smiling to myself and gibbering quietly.

THE SQUEEFUL

:iconcthulhuplz:

Well. Last night I went to a faculty concert at my music school (that is, the faculty were playing.) The whole thing was pretty awesome–  the program was taken entirely from two albums by this guy Jimmy Giuffre (I think?) but there was one outstanding moment.

There was a drum solo in the second piece (Called Cry, Want) which was completely EPIC. There I was, sitting in my chair listening to this not-too-exciting jazz, when the room exploded! It was like the world was ending, it was like the drummer had fifteen arms! There was more noise coming out of that drum set than I thought was physically possible. TOTALLY. EPIC. I mean, seriously, that guy must've had at LEAST fifteen arms, or superhuman speed to hit as many drums as he did within the literal blink of an eye.

Okay, done now.
