Illustrations for World tour to Neocene

This project is dedicated to speculative biology (futurobiology) and includes descriptions of animals and plants possible to exist on Earth 25 MY after humankind. It is well-developed and has a vast database, but it needs more illustrations. If you have a wish and an opportunity to collaborate this project, send me messages to sivatherium@land.ru (Pavel I. Volkov)

To learn more about this project you may here:

The Russian forum is here:

You may choose and draw any animal and plant you like. The main term is the correspondence of its appearance and coloration to the existing description. Style and technique are also as you wish, but realism is preferable.

This is so completely freaking AWESOME! It's body reminds me of a genet or a weasel or a ferret with a bit of rat in it for the tail. I actually thought it was some obscure animal for a second!

It's fascinating. Futurobiology reminds a lot of the animals in Avatar: The Last Airbender. Very well drawn.

This is incredible! Your style is so unique and gorgeous. It reminds me of those fancy old children's books with those astonishing illustrations :) I think my favourite part is the eyes. They stand out, yet blend in at the same time. Also, I love how you drew the background, but didn't make it distract the main part of your drawing. Overall, this is one my of my all-time favourite pieces of art I've ever seen!!!Heart Heart Love Meow :3 I think I've fainted.

Your painting does look real! (anatomy, shades and colours etc) ^_^
I easily can imagine how this mammal jumps from branch to branche and runs swiftly on ground.
Great work and imagination!

How does one go about guessing what evolution will lead to in the future?  I just found out about this  thanks to you, and now I am intrigued!

I love the shading! It looks like it was sitting in the one ray of sun that shines through the trees into the dim forest.
And the face looks very real, like a living animal was staring back at me.

I'd say it is very possible. I mean we've got squirrels that leap from tree to tree. So why wouldn't it be possible for a tree dwelling rodent to take the place of lemurs and or monkey's.

When were dead and looking down through deep time. We'll see if that becomes reality. Still, I think the concept is sound.

Nice critter - looks like a quoll. It's a rat evolved to live in the trees, right? Not a lemur that's evolved.
