I Draw For.. -STAMP- by HoneyAppleNinja I Draw For.. -STAMP- by HoneyAppleNinja
I Draw for

Fun - Because why do it if you can't have fun with it?
Love - I love what I do~
Myself - I don't draw to please others or make others LOVE me, I do it because it's what I love to do, no one is going to change that for me

Nice stamp there. And yes, I agree there. ^_^ Not everyone has to be popular, I always draw for fun, but not everyone should be interested in whatever I draw.
StegoKat Featured By Owner Mar 18, 2014

Right. We all draw for fun.

If you only drew for yourself, why would you upload your work to Internet?
psychopotato Featured By Owner Sep 5, 2013  Professional Digital Artist
No, no.. you got it wrong.. Drawing for yourself means drawing something because you want to draw it and not to please other people... Because there are artists who draw stuff so that they can become famous and try to impress people.

Us who draw "for ourselves" do not want to impress people. We just want to draw what we want and not for other's sake.

Also the stamp doesn't mean we do not want to share our personal drawings :XD:

Just copy the thumb :thumb139872269: (which is also located on the right side of this page under "details") and paste it on your journal or ID. :XD:

i draw for fun and love~ .
i also like to make others happy with my art even though i suck at it and nobody views me but i'm not giving up.
Zelendur Featured By Owner Sep 24, 2012  Hobbyist General Artist
Well I draw a lot for others, but mostly because I love to make others happy with my art..
so it is somehow not for myself, but still for my personal joy.. oô XD

People who always beg for attention and praise and always draw popular stuff just for the sake of getting watchers, faves and comments annoy me :T
Don't they have any pride as an artist?

While I am under this profile name, I mostly for fun. Sometimes it is good to please others, but if you ONLY try to please others, you will run short in the end. It's best to be responsible for your own artwork for the majority of the time. There is nothing wrong with just drawing for yourself, even if you go public. Sometimes it is cool to see what others are thinking and not just wanting them to do what you want them to do.

Great stamp!! Going to art school made me lose being about to draw for fun/love/myself cause I'm always concerned about how good it is. I hope someday I'll be able to get back to drawing for fun/love/myself. :) Anyway, lovely stamp!

Going to an artschool did me good technically but it also ended up depressing me to no end.
It was too much preasure for someone like me (but it was nuts even for a normal person). I mean really :

- I had only 6 hours of sleep each night
- the school (well, school, more like an intense preparative year... it's called a prépa in France) didn't really know how to prepare us to our respective entrance exam to art schools, it was a total mess - and the planning was just nuts
- plus I lived far from my school : I had to get up at 6 am, take the train, there was crazy long pause during lessons (6 hours of pause per day and we couldn't even stay in the school, we were just wandering Paris) and the last lesson actually ended at 22 pm (so I was hardly eating well during this period... it's hard to eat somewhere not too expansive in Paris... or I just ate a sandwich or later after the lesson, at home) and I was at home at 23 pm.

I was so disgusted that I totally stopped drawing for 3 months. The pressure had to do with it I guess... Drawing like a machine just sucked the fun of it for me. Not succeeding to really do what I wanted during animation classes brought me down, hard. Also, not being prepared as I should, I was totally insecure about the exam.

The fact that some teachers were questioning weather or not I "chose the right path" was a downer too (that's right, I'm a depressive person, I'm not a talkative sunshine overflown with self-confidence... do I deserve to give up my dreams because of this !?).

The worst thing is... those people were actually nice compared to some teachers in more expansive and snobbish schools (yes, that's something that I don't like much in the art world... the holier-than-you attitude *an old friend of mine who also did art studies told me once she was also disgusted by this*).

Oh well... but now, I feel good drawing again. And I managed to animate drawings by myself (while I was stucked, insure and frustrated at the school).
The school was an experience... and while it was completely messy... I still learned to draw better thanks to it.

Art school is hard, but I know it's going to pay off in the end. I don't know about this 6 hr sleep, cause I get enough sleep. I go to be 10-ish and be in class whenever it's scheduled. I never had a problem with lack of sleep.

I know sometimes when school is in session, I can't stop and draw for myself. It's hard to take a break and crank out something that you like to do. I haven't really been depressed but I've been going to school for quite awhile now, that I'm getting really sick of doing school. Part of me can't wait to get finish and start working and the other part dreads it and wants to prolong it. lol

I feel bad that the teachers were questioning whether you were in the right place instead of encouraging you. I have really good teachers. Maybe you didn't pick the right school suited for you. And no, you don't. I'm a shy person who likes to listen more than I talk. I don't like to talk and I'm quite the bit of a loner. So I can understand where you are coming from. My self-confidence could stand to be a bit higher as well. But no, you don't deserve to give up your dreams because of that. They should have done more to encourage you or something.

Oh, unfortunately I've seen the holier than thou attitude. Strangely, not so much from the teachers but the students. And most of those were in a different department. ^^; That kind of attitude hacks me off.

I'm glad that you feel good drawing again. I learned a lot in school so far and of course it'll help me get into the work force so it doesn't all have a bad side. lol

True, what you learn in art (and other things) is never lost.
I wish you well for the rest of your studies (and beyond) :w00t: !
