Is....is this thing on? Anyone still here?

Anyway, as you can all plainly see, I haven't really been too active this year as far as posting things goes. And the truth of the matter is, while there have been a number of things that have come up recently that have prevented me from being able to work on things, the reality is that I've just been kind of lazy. And I really, really regret that.

But more than that, I just feel like the comic isn't coming to fruition like I wanted it to. It isn't going in the direction that I wanted, the art isn't where I want it to be, and I just feel like I am going about things all wrong. That said, I am taking a step back from things to take a look at the bigger picture of what I want the comic to be. I want things to be taken in a different direction, and I don't want to be so far behind anymore.

I've decided to go back to square one, in some respects, and kind of re-grind some of the basics out. I want to do a lot more conceptual stuff to get things looking the way I want them. The truth of the matter is, I actually have been working on a lot of stuff both related to Verboten, and other stuff for other projects. Basically, the breakdown looks like this;

-At this point in time, I am not going to continue with chapter 0. I only posted a few pages, but I am going to revamp those pages and polish them up a bit, and re-release things next year when I pick back up. I want to kind of do something totally different with the comic from chapter 0 onward, but I will have to wait and see if it all works out.

-Chapter 4 will actually continue on for the rest of this year. There are only maybe a half-dozen (or so) pages left in the chapter, and I actually have the next couple totally done, I was just waiting to post them while I thought a few things out.. I will continue on posting them as-is until this chapter is over with, hopefully by the end of the year.

-I will hopefully be posting more conceptual stuff for Verboten (and other upcoming projects) very soon. I want to go back and go over basic things like character designs, poses, backgrounds, and get back to basics as I have said.

-The other comic that I have hinted at in the past (the paranormal one) should be coming more into fruition as well. All the conceptual stuff I am doing is going to be for all my upcoming projects, and I want to post more neat preliminary stuff to get people interested.

-There are other possible projects, but they are in the super-conceptual stage, and I will have to see what I want to do with them. They may not even be posted here...

So...It is time to get back on track for 2014. I want that to be the year that I was hoping 2013 was going to be, with an explosion of cool new stuff. A lot of things that I was dealing with are winding down, and next year should be fantastic, a lot less stressful, and there should be more free time to get some of these things off the ground.

That's right. As of today, I leave behind my twenties, and turn...30 years old. How....How could this happen? Where did all the time go? Sometimes I look back and feel like I haven't really done much in my life, but then I think about the things I've done, and the friends I've made, and I realize it has been quite the ride.

And there is so much more I want to do.

As I get older, I think more about the things I want to do with my art, and realize the long road ahead. 2013 has been kind of a slow year for comic stuff, I admit, and my intent was to really pick up the slack this year. I do, however, have the next week off from work, which I plan on getting a lot of things done, and there are already a number of things nearing completion.

I really want to get back on top of things now. Stay tuned, everyone.

Ok so....this is probably going to be a fairly long entry, so here goes;

This largely concerns Verboten as a comic, as well as a number of other personal things I am involved in, art-wise. First off: I'm really sorry for the severe lack of updates as of the last....six months or so. I hate to constantly cite "real life" as cause for lack of updates, but things just kind of grinded to a halt since October or so. At that point in time, work slowed down, and I was in jeopardy of being laid off--or losing my job entirely, if things continued to get worse. September and October were slow months IRL and art wise. While work was slowing, I was looking for other avenues of work, which is why comic work slowed at that time.

Then in October, they ended up laying off a bunch of people, and while I wasn't one of them, I got demoted to a crappier job that I didn't particularly like, but it was still a paycheck.

Then, a couple weeks later (Mid-November) my car broke down. I didn't really have the money to fix it, so I had to wait a couple weeks until I could put the money together. So, I finally got it the money and took the car in to get it fixed, and I thought I was ready to go.

A week later it died again. It wasn't as much to fix this time, but it was still a lot. But surely, THIS time things would be fine, right?

A week later, we had a bad snowstorm, and needed new tires. I had been putting it off for months, but with icy, snowy roads, I NEEDED new tires.

All in all, in less than a month's time I had put almost $2000 into this car. A car which I had BOUGHT for $2000 in June.

So then January rolls around, and things looked better, but work picked up so much that we were constantly working overtime. This was great to replentish that money I spent on the car, but it was eating literally ALL of my free time. I think in January I had three days off the entire month. It was largely the same with February. Plus with all of this crap happening, my motivation was just being sapped away by all this mental and physical wear and I just had no desire to really work on things with all this going on.

What's more, I've never really felt Verboten was up the level I expected it to be at. Some times I was really proud of the pages and the way things were going, but I always felt like I could be doing better. And during those times I was busy or just exhausted, I felt the comic really suffered.

Also, while I really like the my initial approach of having all these "prequel" chapters to introduce the main characters, I feel like their purpose never really got off the ground. My intent was always to get several chapters out, and have these prequel chapters be sort of  "practice" chapters to sharpen the art, storytelling, etc, and accumulate fans and feedback on what people liked, and what they didn't like so I could further polish things....This....never really came to fruition. Instead, people largely have found the chapters to be kind of jumbled, and people didn't seem to really like the disjointed nature of the story telling (as in, each chapter jumping from character to character, and none of the chapters really continuing where the previous one left off.)

So....I've been slowly working on what I consider to be the "bridge" chapter, between the prequel/backstory chapters, and the main comic. I've gotten a few pages done, and I've decided to start posting them as-is, so I can jump start the main comic, and will now have the chapters each leading into on another without weird jumps from one time period to another, and one character to another. The current running chapter (Chapter -004) will be be worked on concurrently with the "bridge" chapter (Chapter 000).

So, that is to say that there are exciting times ahead for Verboten! This is the story as I have always meant for it to be told. Chapter 0 is one that I did originally intend to be a prequel chapter, but I feel that it is necessary to the story, so it will be included as the first chapter of the main comic.

There are also plenty of other Verboten (and other comic) related projects in the future. Chapters -4, and 0 are being worked on concurrently as I mentioned, and I am trying to plan out more Verboten stuff ahead of time. I also have other comics that have been on the backburner for far too long that I would like to get working on.

Along with all of this, my friends and I who host the site www.zibaricon.org are going to be reworking much of the site in order to generate more interest and traffic. We've got a lot of great fans as it is, but the more the merrier! If you've come to the site in the past, I encourage you all to come back, as the site has been updating more frequently, and we have some really big plans for upcoming projects and want to include the fans in the fun! If you've never been to Zibaricon, you should come over!  Not only is Verboten hosted there, but we've got a number of other comics, projects, and fun things by some of my friends and myself.

So, stay tuned here at DA, and on Zibaricon for lots of cool upcoming stuff! 2013 is going to be a great year!

So I figured that since everyone made a "Merry Christmas" journal, I would too, so, Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays/Whatever your celebrated holiday of choice is! Had a great holiday myself, and looking forward to the New Year. I'll make another journal in the coming weeks, but there is a lot of new comic related stuff coming up soon!

Once again, Happy Holidays, and see you all in 2013!

So, I recently rotated my banners and stuff on some of the sites I host Verboten on. Smackjeeves is one of those sites. The updated banner is a smaller, cut up version of this: fav.me/d4txzrf (Its the Ulysses pic I uploaded not long ago with the heavy black/white contrast). The next day, I went to check my profile out, and noticed that I jumped from from about 50 fans to near 70. I was shocked that so many people started following the comic in such a short time (I usually average like, two new fans a month, if that) and initially attributed it to the new banner.

Then I looked, and realized that Verboten had been spotlighted. Not really a huge deal I guess, since SJ rotates their spotlighted comics with fair frequency and spotlights multiple comics at once, but the other two major comics hosted on Zibaricon (A Loonatics Tale [Rebecca Burg and Rick Fortner] and Strangers and friends [Rebecca Burgess]) had been spotlighted before, so its cool to finally join that rank, I suppose. And having a well of new readers is always nice.

EDIT: All characters for the end-of-chapter bonus are due by tomorrow, Sunday March 18th! Get your last minute questions in!

I think it kind of got lost in the ocean of text that was my last journal, so I figure I'll post one specifically dedicated to it now. In the past, I've always done little bonus artworks and things for the break in between chapters, and I figured that since it was a pretty popular thing to do, I'd take a bunch of questions that the characters can answer.

So basically, you can ask a Verboten (whether or not they've even been in the comic) character ANY question, and that character will answer. Just ask whatever question you want (it can be something general, or something directly related to that character) then make sure you tell me which character to you want to have answer the question.

We've got maybe three weeks left before the end of this chapter, so get your questions in! Either just post them here in the comment, or note me, or contact me through any of the other sites you prefer (ZiBaricon, ComicFury, SmackJeeves, or just email me) and I'll get to work on these.

So fire away!

Alright everyone. After nearly a year, Verboten chapter 3 is actually quickly approaching an end. There shouldn't be more than maybe 8 or 9 pages left in this chapter. That means that it will be over with (hopefully) by the end of this month. At latest, it will be the middle of next month, but it pretty much HAS to be done by then if I want to get the updated book done in time for upcoming conventions. @_@ It has been a fun chapter to work on, but I'm looking forward to getting around to some other characters.

With the end of the chapter, I thought I'd do something a little different this time. Before, I always did little bios and whatnot as the end-of-chapter bonus stuff, but I figured I'd mix it up and do what a lot of people are doing....that is, you submit a question to a character, and they'll answer it for you! You can ask any question to any character (even if they haven't been in the comic yet) I'm thinking the deadline for this will be like, the middle of March, or the end of March, so you all have plenty of time if you're thinking about wanting to do this, but don't have a question offhand. You can either comment here, note me, email, note me on ZiBaricon.org, or do whatever to get in touch with me. It isn't exactly difficult to get ahold of me online. XD

The next "big" chapter is going to be a Shoju chapter, but that will probably be bumped back a bit in favor of....a short Ulysses chapter. Ulysses isn't exactly a character I've talked about a lot, but a handful of people have been requesting seeing him in comic form, and I figured "why not?" He's someone I've been wanting to write and draw more, so this is a perfect opportunity. For those of you who aren't familiar with who he even is, he is the Bard fellow seen here: (fav.me/d4n3uiz) and (a bit outdated design) here: (fav.me/d343g61) it'll be a really cool chapter, I think, and I'm already a few pages into it, and have the script written and thumbnails drawn for almost the entire thing already. Also, it ties in a little bit to chapter 3 a bit, so there's an interesting little heads up. This chapter should only be about 12-14 pages, so like, not even half of the size of the existing chapters. Once that wraps up, we'll get back to a Shoju chapter. And one that I've been really looking forward to.

Also, the new comic....it isn't dead or anything, but since interest in Verboten has kind of spiked recently, I've put the new comic on the back burner. I was really looking forward to starting to get a color comic out (and a non-Verboten comic, at that) but it'll have to wait a little longer. I haven't really divulged too much about the new comic yet, specifically because I didn't want to promise that it was right around the corner, and then have to push it back for some reason or another. Which is pretty much exactly what happened.

So to summarize: Chapter 3 is drawing to a close. If you want to ask a character a question for the between-chapter bonus, get it in within the next month or so. Ulysses is the next character up for a Verboten chapter, and the new comic is still in the making, just being put on hold for a bit.

Alright so, it's been quite a while (like...a year) since I've made a journal. Not like they really get read anyway, but I figured I'd update a few things.

First off, sorry for the lack of Verboten. November has been probably the worst month in a looooong time so comic work got put on the backburner for the most part. Not going to go into great detail, because some of it is just kind of personal family stuff, but for half of November I was was sick. Then for Thanksgiving I was out of town for most of the week (had a long vacation off from work and had planned on getting a bunch of comic related stuff done, but...that didn't really happen.) So it's been a month of ups and downs, but I've been working on stuff again. December will see some more time off thanks to Christmas and New Years, so hopefully I can get a lot of stuff done within the coming weeks.

That said, there's a lot of new stuff in the works. Next Verboten page is almost done (just have to ink a bit, then scan and tone.) I'm probably dropping back down to smaller page sizes soon, since I've got a lot of other stuff I want to work on too. Not that I want Verboten to suffer or anything; I'm just going back to the page size that Chapters 1 and 2 were drawn on, so you guys probably won't even notice the difference anyway.

There's lots of sketching and side stuff going on too, which I hope to dump/mass update sometime within the coming weeks. New character stuff and whatnot. I think you guys will like it.

There's also a big new project in the works. I don't want to make any promises on dates or anything, but I've hinted at it a bit recently. The only thing I'll say is, you can expect a new non-Verboten comic coming up in either January or February. This one will be full color, too. Not planning on scaling  back on Verboten, more than I'm planning on getting my ass more in gear in the next month or two.

Hope you guys look forward to it.

A lot of newer people have been coming by my page recently, so I thought I'd mention a few things that haven't been brought up in awhile....or not at all, really.

First off; there's still some Daishocon leftovers for sale; We've got bookmarks, large prints, small prints, and some mini-books for chapter one. You can either look at my last Journal "The Aftermath of Daishocon" or look here (static2007.deviantart.com/jour…) for more details. Also note that any time you buy anything, you get a letter from a character of your choosing. This can be anyone who has appeared in the comic, or any other Verboten character you know of who hasn't been in the comic yet.

Second; Never forget that commissions are always available! Commissions are pretty cheap and are priced as follows;

Sketch:............$5
Inked Drawing:.....$10
Colored Pic:.......$20

This is for any single character in no (or) a simple background. More complex scenes and/or multiple characters will be discussed until a price is agreed upon.

Third....A lot of new people are filtering in from various places; Some of you are coming over from SmackJeeves, some are coming from ComicFury, and others are coming from Daishocon/The recent Artist Alley (From ThatGuyWithTheGlasses) video (which can be seen here [thatguywiththeglasses.com/vide…)

For those of you coming from those places, My friends static2007 (Artist of A Loonatic's Tale, which can be found here; [static2007.deviantart.com/] or [zibaricon.org/]) and KingRick (Writer of A Loonatic's Tale) (kingrick.deviantart.com/) and I hold a podcast/live U-Stream every Friday night at 8 PM Central here: www.ustream.tv/channel/drluck

They usually last about 2 hours, with the first hour involving us just goofing off, BSing, or talking about random current events. The second half we talk about our individual comics, any upcoming news and events regarding our comics, or anything else important that has to do with any related comic-related projects we're working on.

So, swing by if you have a chance! You don't have to watch the whole thing. Stop by for a few minutes to catch us if you want, or just to see what its all about. Though we do them live, we upload the podcasts so that you can listen to them at your leisure. If you're not sure about joining in just yet, you can listen to some of our past podcasts here; zibaricon.org/podcast.php

Erk. Sorry for the link spammage.

Anyway. Chapter 2 is drawing to a close, only about 7 or so pages left, and like last chapter, I plan on a short week or two break in between chapters 2 and 3. Also like last chapter, I'll be uploading some cool little extras in between the end of chapters 2 and 3 for people to take a look at. If anyone has any cool suggestions of what they'd like to see, post your ideas and I'll take them into consideration.

Last thing (I swear!) Verboten Chapters 1 and 2 will be packaged together for a short book that will be available for purchase! That's right. You'll be able to own the first two chapters of the comic in book form sometime in the coming months. There will be a number of cool extras included to make it worth while, so look forward to that! It'll probably be fairly cheap too, being in black and white (though it will have a color cover, of course.)

So....tons of awesome stuff to look forward to!

I suppose I probably should have done this a day or two ago, when everyone else was talking about it, but we got back alive and well from Daishocon, which I attended with my friends Becky (static2007.deviantart.com/), and Rick (kingrick.deviantart.com/) of Zibaricon.org.

This was my first convention, so I didn't really know what to expect. You hear a lot of internet horror stories about anime conventions, and all that goes on there, so I was part nervous, part anxious, and very much looking forward to what would go on. Especially considering some of the odd individuals Becky and Rick told me they ran into at Nobrand Con when they went early in the year.

I have to admit, it was a lot of fun, and surprisingly not as bad as people claim. (in some respects) Then again, these are kind of smaller conventions compared to the big ones that take place in like, California and New York and such, so maybe it didn't draw out as many of the weirdos as those do. There were very few bad cosplays (though the ones that were bad....were [I]bad[I] but there were a lot of good ones, too. Cosplay gets a bad rap, but it's kind of cool to see people put so much time and effort into making outfits of video game/anime/comic/etc. characters that they really like.

We met a lot of really cool people, too. Higher-profile people like the Nostalgia Critic, and such, and had a number of other cool discussions of varying degrees of length with fans of video games, comics, and art that we liked. It was cool to see so many talented artists there too...

...That said, financially, this convention was kind of a dud. I won't dwell on it, and I don't regret going at all, but I think I made back roughly 1/5 of the money that I put into the preparations. XD Ah well. But I suppose that's a good segue into this;

There is still TONS of stuff left for anybody who wants to buy anything. For those of you who join the Zibaricon.com podcast that Becky, Rick, and I host on Fridays and expressed interest buying some of the posters, bookmarks, etc, there's plenty left if any of you want anything. That goes for anyone who was interested, though, not just the podcast listeners. Here's a list of what's left, and prices;

Verboten Chapter 1 booklet ($2):
holylancer9.deviantart.com/art…, (holylancer9.deviantart.com/gal…)
This contains all of chapter 1, some short bios and bonus pics not found online, and a few other extras. It is roughly 35~ pages.

Verboten Bookmarks ($1 each):
fav.me/d31e3hv
This shows all five available bookmarks together. Just tell me which one(s) you want.

4x6 Black and White glossy prints ($1 each):
holylancer9.deviantart.com/art…,
holylancer9.deviantart.com/art…,
holylancer9.deviantart.com/art…
These were all rescanned for the glossies, so they look a lot nicer and have been cleaned up a bit more.

4x6 Color glossy prints ($2 each):
holylancer9.deviantart.com/art…,
holylancer9.deviantart.com/art…

11x17 Color prints ($5 each):
holylancer9.deviantart.com/art…,
holylancer9.deviantart.com/art…

That should be everything.

We've also been considering offering up a sort of "package" deal, since It kinda sucks to want a $1 book mark, that will probably end up costing $3-$4 or something with shipping. So the idea behind the package was offering up like a $10 deal where you could pick something like, one of the big prints, one of the chapter one books, and a couple bookmarks or 4x6 glossy prints. Depending on how many people jump on this and how quickly, I may even sneak an extra item in just because you guys are pretty cool. If you still just want a book mark, or a small glossy or something, that's completely fine, I just wanted to be able to safely ship things for as cheap as possible without the risk of them getting damaged.

So, note me, or comment, or something if you're interested in anything. Chances are, if there is something that you really want, there's probably plenty of it still left over.

Alright, so I have some stuff I want to bring up. This is partially to make you guys aware of what to expect in the future. It also lets me know how many of you guys are actually paying attention to all this. >_>

Anyway, first I should start off by saying sorry that I missed Wednesday's update...Work and some other stuff got a bit more intense this week than I thought they would, so I didn't have time to get that page done like I had hoped. So, instead of rushing to get that page done today (which still means I'd have to rush tomorrow to get Saturday's page done...and that would be difficult given that I still have work tomorrow, and the podcast with Static and KingRick tomorrow evening) I wouldn't have any time to get that page done either. So I'm just skipping an update so that I can concentrate and not put out a rushed page. So...sorry everyone. D= I'll resume updates on Saturday.

Next thing is, Chapter one is drawing to a close (Next page is page 20, and there should only be about 6 more pages after that) and I am going to take a three-updated break between chapters one and two (which basically means a week and a half off.) It's not that I won't be drawing anything during that time, I'd just like to create a stock of pages just in case something ends up coming up like this again, and I won't have to miss an update.

All of that said, I'd like to do something special (but relatively easy) in between these two, and all future chapters. Things I were thinking about include;

-Interviews and/or Q and A with the cast and/or the author (That'd be me)
-Sketches of upcoming characters, or just more sketches of existing characters.
-More detailed character bios (or really...ANY bios at all...)
-Anything else that I am forgetting that you'd like to see/like explained/elaborated on that wasn't covered yet in the comic.

So, give me ideas! Since this chapter will end in about 3 weeks, I'd like to gather responses within the next week, decide what I should do, then (if I need to gather questions for a Q and A) I can spend the next week or two doing that until the chapter ends.

Anyone?

SO! I had an adventurous day. After some thought, and after some discussion with two of my friends Static2007 and KingRick during a podcast regarding their comic "A Loonatic's Tale" (Which can be found here: static2007.deviantart.com/ ) I've decided to upload my comic here as well. You can find it at ComicFury and SmackJeeves as well, but I suppose it never hurts to spread it around so more people can read, no? I had always gone back and forth about posting comics here, and it may not be here forever, but I suppose it's not bad for now to get some exposure.

Anyway, I (so far) have roughly 20 pages done of the first chapter. I've only uploaded about half of them here so far, and I suppose I'll upload 2 more everyday until I get it caught up with the other sites. Those other sites (particularly ComicFury) will stay probably 1 page ahead of all the other pages, just because I like the layout and such there best. So, if you want to keep as current as possible, check it out there first! But it will eventually catch up here, too.

The comic updates Wednesdays, and again either Saturdays or Sundays (depends on how much I work/get done/etc during the week.)

So...look forward to it, give me any feedback you think I deserve, comments, criticisms, etc. are always encouraged and appreciated!

Enjoy!

You can visit it at either of the following;

Ok, this is going to sort of be a bit of an "everything-under-the-sun" update (I wonder if anyone even reads these, though. >.> ) *Cough* ANYway, I want to update a few things regarding various projects I'm working on.

First off, in my last journal I talked about the freelance work I did with DoubleJump books on the Disgaea 2 strategy guide. We finished the eGuide a week or two ago, and the print version is nearing completion. We've got to fine-tune a few things and add some minor bits of info, but otherwise it is nearly done. It will be available as a Print-on-demand only (so it won't be available in retail stores like a lot of the past guides they've done) but surprisingly, it's a bit cheaper than previous Print-on-demand guides they've done. Their other PoD guides have averaged about $40, but this one should be only $25. Seems like a lot, but considering the fact that these are printed on higher quality paper than the guides DoubleJump has printed in-house, as well as a number of other things, it ends up being a fairly decent deal. Especially if you like picking up these books as collectors items (as a lot of people do.) You can expect it available October 5th, but you can preorder it now on the doublejumpbooks.com website.

The second bit of info is regarding some of my comic projects. Over the years, I've tossed ideas around for about a half-dozen different stories to use as comics. However, only two of these have I ever really fleshed out. Two of them, I've been developing since high-school (which for me means that I've been jotting down ideas, sketching characters, and whatnot) for about the last 8-10 years. Eep. Only as of the last couple years, however, do I really feel confident in anything I've created. This is due to refining my writing and drawing a bit.

Anyone who has ever visited my page will probably notice that I've never really submitted much work. I've always been a bit hesitant to submit descriptions of characters, character names, details of my plots, even the title to my main story, due to the fact that I've always had a nagging worry in the back of my mind that someone may snatch some of my ideas, so I've always withheld almost everything regarding my main storyline. That said, the untitled comic I've been submitting is a tiny fragment of this story. I've recently had a couple people tell me that I have decent ideas, and I should be a bit cautious about revealing too many of them.

Generally, I have a pretty trusting nature, but over the course of time, I've seen probably a dozen friends and/or fellow DA members have their ideas or artwork stolen or just used with no permission or credit to the artist. That's pretty lame, but considering the frequency at which this happens, I think I'm not going to divulge any more info on my main story line except to close, real-life family and friends. I just don't want to risk spending a decade building up a story, only to have it stolen overnight. I may or may not remove the 5 pages of my untitled comic I have posted so far, but I'm still debating it...

On the other hand, although I sort of abandoned the project about a year ago, I'll probably pick back up work on the "Paranorma" comic I recently posted a couple pages of. This was kind of a generic comic, with a bit of a cliche idea, but I just wanted to do it for fun and practice. If someone steals those ideas then, well, whatever. No real harm done. It'd still make me mad, but not as mad as losing my main story, which I someday plan to publish and print.

Final thing is more details on commissions. Since I've done very few commissions as of yet, I'm going to attempt to give some fairly low prices compared to other people who do commissions. Not that I want to undercut myself; I just figure that I'll cut a deal to these early people so I can get in a more comfortable pace of doing commissions at.

That said, most people tend to charge about $10 for a sketch, $20 for an ink, and $30-$40 for a color, for a single character, and $5 or so for an additional character.

For me, I'll charge; $7 for a sketch, $15 for a single character, and unfortunately, I have no real way of coloring as of right now (plus, I need to practice a bit more before I start offering those types of projects to people.) I'll also add $5 per additional character. Complex backgrounds will be a bit more too, considering the additional time and materials that will go into it, but I'll still keep it fairly reasonable. Send me a note if you want me to do something for you. Only real rules I have is that I won't do anything sexually explicit.

...Um....class is dismissed.

Well, I finally got to do something in the professional world. Coincidentally, it doesn't have much to do with art, per say. XD Or anyway, not drawing. Anyway, I love writing and drawing equally (which is why I love making comics so much) so being able to do either is pretty awesome.

So, what was the job? Well, it was a freelance position helping DoubleJump Books writing their strategy guide for the English version of Disgaea 2: Dark Hero Days! Back at about the end of July, I was referred to the publisher of DoubleJump, and eventually we contacted each other. At the time, he had actually filled the position, but a couple days later he brought me in to help as well, so I was pretty ecstatic. It really wasn't huge project, but it was fun to work on a book by a company who's game-related books are awesome, about a game from a series I love. Anyway, you can find the eGuide version up on DoubleJump's website (www.doublejumpbooks.com). We're also planning a published book, which should be out in the coming weeks.

It was kind of a small project, but it was fun to work on something like this. If any of you happen to play the game, pick up the book to go with it! ;D

Anyway, the second thing is; Would anyone be interested in commissions at all? Sketches and inked linearts are all I would be able to do for now, as I don't currently have any way to color. But I'd be willing to do them for fairly cheap, just for the experience, and whatnot.

Very few people read it anyway. >_> I wish more people would take a look at some of my stuff anyway, as it's a bit of an incentive to make and post more stuff. Then again, people don't stop by unless you frequently update. Such a paradox, I say.

Well anyway, I've got a few projects I'm working on (mostly some various comics) that are in various states of completion. I wouldn't hesitate to say that I have something like 10 different comics that are anywhere from one to seven pages complete, but I usually lose all interest in doing them. When I post things, only a few people comment anyway. Not that I'm whining about DA hits; I'd just like more feedback on things overall. So, if anyone is just passing by, spare a minute or two to leave critique or feedback on a couple pieces, please. I've been trying to do better about going back over to other people's pages and either favorite-ing pieces, or watching people that I overlooked before.

Anyway, I suppose I like how the new as-of-yet untitled comic is turning out. I only have the one page up so far, but if anybody has any comments, feedback, or critique I'd appreciate it. I'm not scared of what people think, so if you absolutely love it, or absolutely hate it I'd like to know what any high or low points are.

Argh, not that anybody ever checks or responds to anything I write or draw, but I suppose this is as good of ap lace as any to...I dunno...vent, I guess. Well, another school year is over. We were actually done back like a month ago, but whatever.

What have I been doing since school's been out? Well...nothing, really. I've been hanging out with some friends and stuff. When I'm not doing that, I'm usually drawing. Working one of the maybe four comics I've been promising people that I'm going to finish some day. I'm glad I'm sort of getting SOMETHING done on that, I guess.

Been playing a bit more Disgaea, since I can never get enough of mindlessly powering characters up in that game. Also been playing Final Fantasy Legend II which I have to admit is probably one of my favorite handheld games, ever, despite it being something of a dinosaur by today's gaming standards. I mean, the game was out on the original gray "brick" gameboy. Yeah. The first one. But FFLII is just one of those games I love, and playing it brings back floods of nostalgia of "the good old days." You know, the mid-90s when my friends and I would hang out and play games like this, and Castlevania III and Metroid....ah well.

Other than that my life is pretty much going to hell, and quickly. Little money for anything. I can barely pay my bills and buy food and gas, and things that, you know, you actually NEED to live. I've been selling off most of my belongings for months, since I'm not making enough where I currently work. Meanwhile, my friends are constantly nagging me that I don't do anything with them, when I don't have the money, or I'm simply doing something else like, you know, working, yet at the same time they can just back out of plans without any warning or anything.

Sometimes you just feel like the world is against you.

Well, here we are....2008. Ok, ok, January is almost over with, and the "new semester" I'm talking about is two weeks in, but, better late than never? But it's been going pretty well so far, although I already missed one of my morning classes thanks to my alarm not going off. I hope they didn't decide to knock me off the roster for that class....

And yeah. I got a new job. Not that in my few journals I've ever talked about my work habits really...mainly because it's been...nearly a year and a half since I've had a job, and although I hated my last job I WAS there for over three years. I could write a small depicting each and every reason why I left, but I'll leave that up to your imagination. Anyway, the new job is working in the back room at Target. Fun fun.

Anyway, I know I keep saying this, but don't worry guys, as there are a lot of things I have really to put up, or nearly ready to put up. I've been trying to scan some things in the big scanner in the library, but to no avail. The ones in the computer room you need to reserve like a week in advance, and I'm just too lazy to do that. Sorry.

But stuff will be coming soon.

Well, here we are. Currently sandwiched in between two holidays. I hope you all got something decent for Christmas, and are looking forward to the new year. I am. Still have over two and a half weeks left of break. Man...

Anyway I was gone for a week, and although I took a sketchbook with me, I only got two or three sketches done. Since I've been back, I started to pencil a couple pages of my "comic" that's been in limbo for a year or two. I'd like to get a good deal of it done before the next semester starts, which is January 14th or 15th...Though I still have a few other projects to finish.

My dad wanted me to paint (as in, traditional Oil paints) a pic of this old car he had. A 1970 Pontiac GTO he had, to be specific. A nice looking car, but he totalled it it probably 30 years ago. Though he still talks about it to this day. My step brother is something of an artist himself, and my dad has been begging him or me to make a painting of this car for years. I want to get that done over break too, if I can.

The other big project is that IDW comic company is having a contest of sorts where you draw and submit a randomly selected Transformer character, and send it to them. Then they select three people, and send them another random character, and the winner gets to have their work featured on the cover of an upcoming comic. Sweet.

So, I'd like to finish the painting and first part of the contest thing before next semester as well as make some decent headway with the comic.

Anyway, happy holidays everyone.

Well, gee. When I made that last update...over two months ago...I had every intention of finishing a few things up for upload. Now that winter break has rolled around, I finally actually have TIME to finish things up. I've got probably 20 different things that are about 2/3 the way done, and hopefully I can finish them within the next couple days so that I can use one of the school's big scanners before they close up the computer labs until the middle of January. Though the library will still be open, although they only have tiny scanners. Buh.

I'll also (hopefully) start working on one of the two comics I've been wanting to start for at least a year. One is a prologue of sorts to the main story which I plan to have published some day, and the other is just a little idea I've been throwing around for a manga-like webcomic.

Let's hope I can pull myself away from Disgaea long enough to actually accomplish some of this...
