SciFi Nerf Rapidstrike by hoellenhamster SciFi Nerf Rapidstrike by hoellenhamster
Christmas present for my little cousin (who hopefully won't check deviantart^^). The carrying handle has been removed and the nerf barrel attachment thingy has been switched to look a little cooler. Runs on 9.6V (thanks to's Dampf Nudel) and is awesome!

Just a nice tip: cut off the stock, replace the magazine with a STANAG 12 round one, and add a chainsaw underneath the barrel assembly....instanty Lancer

gorgeous.  how is the structural integrity without the top arch on it?

Also is that the blasterparts curved mag or the one from China?
Removing the top arch has no noticable effect on the structural integrity. Since I closed the thing back up with plastic sheet I would guess that it is just as stable as it was beforen. But even when there were just two holes there wasn't any wobbling.
The magazine is the one from China - I bought it before blasterparts launched theirs. Part of the reason I am giving it away is to make room for a couple of the blasterparts magazines ;-)

Edit: Almost forgot... Thank you! =)

So what's wrong with the Chinese one that is better with the Blasterparts one?

About the top arch, the Longshot was slightly based on the G36 and Aliens Pulse rifle but more the former than the latter, right?  it seems the Rapidstrike is supposed to be based far more on the Pulse Rifle and what else?

I guess they are fond of the top arch because of the pulse rifle comparison or maybe because it helps the blaster look less realistic while looking no less cool.

The thing does look pretty vicious, in fact more so with the top arch off.

next time around do you think you would give it a rear sight of some sort? if so what kind?  Notch? HK?  AR15?

One thing i want to do when i get one is replace the front sight ring with something bigger because a realistically sized ring like that one is too small for Nerf use.  Not sure how that would change a rear sight though.

A big sight would be goofy but so too are nerf blasters.

Well I know and love the blasterparts guys because they are very active on and have been role playing with me before so it is mostly just me being biased - they are just generally awesome and incredibly generous guys. There are two small advantages to their magazine over the chinese one, though: First of all the chinese magazine has rubber corners (like Nerf's 18 dart clips but bigger) which are basically impossible to paint. In this instance I cut them away and covered the corners with plastic sheets so it wouldn't be as noticable.
The second advantage is that the blasterparts magazine is designed to be a tighter fit to the blaster's magazine wells. This means it doesn't rattle as much (or at all) as the Nerf magazines or the chinese one. This is probably only noticable when you shake your blaster or run with it.

Apart from that the difference is mostly in looks. The curve is slightly different so I am gonna say that the chinese mag will probably look a little better in AK-style mods while the blasterparts magazine looks more like Nato magazines.

Regarding the rear-sight and the top arch: I like how plain it is now. I feel like you can still effectively aim (within the obvious confines of Nerf) by lining up the seam between both parts of the shell with the front sight. I think part of the reason Nerf put the carrying handle there was so you could install their scopes on top of the blaster - I imagine quite a few people would have scratched their heads over the existence of 4 tactical rails that couldn't be used for a scope.
