Coloborhynchus Attack by HodariNundu Coloborhynchus Attack by HodariNundu

A Coloborhynchus attacks a raptor that went too close to its nesting grounds.
A new Coloborhynchus species, C. capito, seems to have been the largest toothed pterosaur known to date- it had a wingspan of 7 meters, being as large as Pteranodon (although still smaller than Queztalcoatlus and Hatzegopteryx).

That'd be a scary thing to see dive bombing you. But wait. Isn't the Coloborhynchus genus under review for validity? And hasn't the species been known since the 1860's?

Those are some pretty impressive fangs. No doubt this pterosaur was eating other animals besides fish :XD:

Would you know by any chance how C. capito's teeth compare to those of Liaoningopterus?

I don´t know... I would expect Colobo to have larger teeth overall since it's quite a bit larger than Liaoningopterus, but maybe Liaoningopterus has larger teeth for its size...

Another great pic!!! ;)

However, :work: I still think Ornithocherius was the largest toothed Pterosaur, because of the isolated fossils from South America( mostly Brazil). They indicated an animal with a skull length of 152cm( 5ft) and a wingspan of 39.4ft( 13m). If assigned to the genus, than it would make Ornithocherius the largest of this group.
Also now I think reducing the size estimations of most Pterosaurs now a days has gone too far.

Those remaints appearently have turned out to have been an azhdarchoid pterosaur.

I don't think those belong to an Azdarchoidea mainly, because of the distinct Ornithocheiroidea features such as the bill creasts and tusk like teeth were present in the fossils( which no Azhdarchoidea had).

Are you sure? Because the description I saw involved mostly the wing bones and ribcage.

The description I read was in an article stating that what was found was a fragmentary skull bones, partial humerus and other arm( wing) bones, some leg bones, and a few ribs.
