Mass Effect: The Hunter
This is a disclaimer:
I don't own the IP or characters of Metroid or Mass Effect. This is just a stupid fanfiction project. So don't sue me, darnit.

"And we all know how she did that, don't we? With that--"
"Despite Parliament's misgivings, she's still seen as a hero. Humanity needs a hero right now. And she's the best one we've got."

The Essay of a strange Sith
The Force flows from life.
That's a fact that any youngling at the Jedi Temple can echo from the day they learn to communicate. You can even look it up at the public information terminals on Coruscant – not that anyone does, since they think of it as a bunch of mystical hooplah. But to those of us who are sensitive to the Force, there's no questioning it. Everything, animate or not, living or not, is touched by the Force, but it is the vital energy of the living – sentients, animals, plants, microbes – that creates the Force as we know it.
With that in mind, it's no surprise that most Jedi do their level best to keep from killing anything that's alive. Sure, they wrap it in some morally-palatable spew, but the bare fact of the matter is that when something dies, it affects the Force adversely. You kill enough people, you weaken the Force as a whole. At least, that's how I've always seen it.
So why is it that everyone gives me funny looks when I try to keep people from dy

Starship USS Lexington NCC-1709, two hours from Mutara System

It was now six hours since the Lexington had left the Sol System in pursuit of the Enterprise. Most of the crew had recovered from the shock of suddenly wrenching the ship from spacedock in the middle of the night to chase down the Starfleet Flagship. Most of the primary crew were resting now, with the second shift now manning critical stations on the bridge and in engineering. Which left one Commander Riley in that most uncomfortable of seats in the center of the bridge.
Jack had never liked sitting in the Captain's Chair. He wasn't sure if it was just in his head, but he could always feel the pressure of responsibility for every soul on the ship pressing down on him as he sat there. Actually, he was fairly sure it was in his head. He also felt is was just too big of a position for him to fill with the examples he had seen while serving on the Lexington.

Needless to say, spoilers ahead. But trust me, you'll thank me if you read it.

I just played through Far Cry 5's campaign. And I enjoyed playing it. The gameplay was fun and engaging, the open world was a joy to explore.

But the payoff for going through it is a great big giant middle finger.

So here come the spoilers. In Far Cry 5, you're playing as a Hope County Sheriff's Deputy sent to arrest one Joseph Seed, a fanatic preacher that's raised an army of brainwashed lunatics to prepare for the end of the world. And props to FC5's writers for making a truly loathsome villain. Over the course of the game, you really come to HATE this guy as you see the depths he and his followers sink to. Brainwashing, murder, torture are all abundant in this bunch, and there's definitely no small amount of catharsis when you bring down one of Seed's top followers - his brothers John and Jacob and his adopted sister Faith.

But when the time comes to finally bring down the top asshat, YOU LOSE. No matter what. You beat him down and nukes go off, and you end up stuck in a bunker, at this guy's mercy as the only person he has left to preach to. YOU LOSE!!!

ALL the time I spent seeing just how truly depraved this guy was, wanting so badly to either put a bullet in him or personally toss him in a jail cell to rot for the rest of his life and all I got was a great big giant "Fuck you".

I uninstalled the game and will not be playing it again. Because I can't even enjoy going through the campaign again, because I know that all the people I've gone out on a limb to help throughout it are doomed anyway. All my efforts and the payoff is beyond a downer. ALL. FOR. NOTHING.

So, fuck you, Ubisoft.

Happy Early Birthday, G. M. Walker Stephens.
I hope you're soon able to get yourself able to post fanfic here again, it hasn't given me any real trouble, so I haven't the foggiest idea what's going on there, but I wish you the best of luck in regards to that.
Sincerely one of your hopefully many fans;

Well, let it be known to the artist that I enjoy your work!
I hope you got yourself a scanner in that case, sorry for the delay in replying, found the letter in my list to things to reply to- this method serves me best in replying: writing to people when I arrive to wish them a happy birthday seems to work best.
