Cooling Lava

Published:

Description

This sluggish lava flow from the slopes of Mount Kilauea on the big island of Hawai'i is starting to cool. The outer layer of the lava freezes into solid rock, and once the pressure of the liquid inside builds up, the skin cracks open with a loud pop and lava oozes out again.
