Review of Star Trek season 4 episode off hour.

After weeks of puppets, Casablanca-style noir, and seemingly every kind of genre experiment imaginable, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds finally delivered what I consider to be real Star Trek.
This week's episode, “Off-Hour,” hit like a punch to the face, and I mean that in the best possible way. After all the silliness and detours of the previous weeks, suddenly we were dropped into a genuinely serious story with real danger, emotional consequences, impossible decisions, and the kind of scientific problem-solving that has always been at the heart of Star Trek. The Enterprise is thrown into a cascading disaster involving a slipstream wormhole, with the crew racing against time as systems fail and the ship itself is pushed toward destruction.
Honestly, part of me wonders if the show was deliberately setting us up. Maybe the weeks of puppets and other genre experiments were designed to make this episode hit even harder. If so, it worked. The contrast is almost violent.
