I love groups that have extremely specialized restrictions. Your inbox doesn't get flooded, and the content is more likely to be something that everybody wants to fave.
So why are we called "Hipster Nerd Crafts?" Because we collect crafts and sculptures from areas of nerd-culture... (*drops to sullen hipster voice*) that people probably haven't heard of before.
In other words, if you made a craft about Arthur C. Clarke's sci-fi novel, "Rendezvous with Rama", then we will accept it. If you made a craft about Harry Potter, we won't accept it because Harry Potter is too "mainstream"
We do not accept any submissions related to the following "mainstream" nerd-culture topics:
-Anime/Manga
-DC/Marvel comics
-Steampunk
-Any video game featured in any edition of Super Smash Bros. or any "classic" video game that's had a remake within 10 years
-Harry Potter
-Hunger Games
-Star Wars Movies
-Star Wars Old Republic MMO (content exclusive to the rest of the expanded universe is okay.)
-Twilight
-Avatar (Both the one with the blue people and the one with the air-benders)
-Doctor Who: 9th -11th Doctor
-How to Train Your Dragon
-Invader Zim
-Anything by Tim Burton or with Johnny Depp
-Pirates of the Caribbean
-Generic Sci-fi/Fantasy (i.e. "A dragon" instead of "So-and-so, the dragon, from this obscure series")
-My Little Pony
-Mythology
-Fairy Tales that have been made into Disney movies
(Portal, Tron: Legacy, WoW, and Wall-e will be added if I get too many submissions of them. So try to limit those unless they're really good.)
I personally really like most of the fandoms listed above, but this group focuses on showcasing crafts from lesser-known fandoms and math/science. We all know that if any kind of nerdy crafts were allowed then, 99% of the art sent to your inbox would be steampunk jewelry, pokemon figurines, and "Doesn't this random flower necklace look so Elven?!!".
A few notes on the math and science category:
1. Computer hardware and computer programming are math and science. Computers and computer icons are not.
2. Any gears=Steampunk = not accepted
There are four reasons your work can be rejected:
1. Not in the category of crafts or sculptures
2. Not Fantasy, Sci-Fi, or Math/Science
3. Related to a topic on the rejected list (before or after you submit it)
4. Mature Content
Don't like our avatar (or lack therof?) Make an alternative. If I like it, I'll make it the official group avatar.
